SEAS the DAY🌊 Restoring What Was Lost
“Cleaning the beach might seem like a drop in the ocean, but every drop counts.” -Unknown
March 13, 2024 -- Subic EnerZone staff and contractors collaborated with other SBMA Locators in a spectacular Beach Clean-Up Drive held by The Lighthouse Marina Resort within the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
Our team launched an effort to honor SBMA Chairman Eduardo Jose Aliño's birthday and promote sustainable tourism in the Freeport Zone.
In the registration area, they provided a pencil and draft paper indicating the different types of waste that are usually seen around the area. Every waste has its corresponding target weight.
We grouped ourselves into three teams, each with a target weight to fill up, and the lead team decided to have a certain area to clean up and check for the waste that could be reused. All items that are reusable and can be recycled will have an equivalent point.
It aims to raise environmental awareness in different communities. To promote waste reduction, recycling, and reuse and create public awareness of waste management and environmental concerns.
We are happy to announce that our Beach Clean-Up is an annual event that reflects our steadfast dedication to environmental care and community involvement.
We made a tremendous effect by collecting a total of 956 kg of rubbish and waste! This combined effort demonstrates the passion of all participants, as our team donated 354 kg, earning us the title of TOP WASTE COLLECTOR for this year's event.
But, what type of trash is mostly found at beach cleanups?
We collected cigarettes, plastic food wrappers, plastic bottles, bottle caps, plastic cap bands, plastic bags, plastic food utensils, straws, stirrers, takeout containers, lids, etc.
This pollution harms marine creatures, degrades land, poisons groundwater, and can have major health consequences. Is pollution the only issue with plastics? No, but it also adds to the climate crisis.
What do these discoveries imply for you and me?
It will ideally change the way we think about how we consume these items in our daily lives. Reducing the quantity of plastic we consume will drive corporations to adapt their production methods.
Join a beach cleanup near you to fight climate change one piece of plastic at a time.
We used to have pure air to breathe, lush surroundings, and clear and clean water. Nowadays, the tables have turned, and we can observe a significant difference between a clean and a dirty one.
As we all know, several environmental challenges must be addressed, including floods, climate change, melting polar ice caps, and pollution. It can come from the air, sea, or land. The major source of these issues is inappropriate trash disposal.
Through this effort, we can now contribute our small contribution in a meaningful and substantial way.
I'd like to establish an avenue for everyone who shares my beliefs and love for sharing their efforts and little ways to help the natural world through a clean-up campaign.
This exercise allowed me to become a more productive individual by learning how to care for and be responsible in our society and environment. Presenting and participating in such events is a huge benefit. If only we understood how essential each action we do to our community.

In this case, togetherness is very important, especially as part of making organic fertilizer. Thank you for sharing with us
Same as all the beaches here that I have seen outside of tourist areas. It is great that you participated in this and I hope they do something like that here as well.
