DIY My Nails

Hi everyone,

I'm a girl and I love nails. Yes, it's true. 😁

It all started when I was 18. A new nail salon opened nearby my office. And it had a great opening offer. But sadly she wasn't really good. Sure, if you are a new nail tech, you can make mistakes, but it was too much. Luckily another one opens at opposite my house and she was PERFECT. As I moved, it was too far away, so I searched for a new one. None could convince me, so I tried to make my nails by myself. But I FAILED 😔 My right hand was always a disaster. But I was lucky again and found someone who was really good. I stayed with her a long time. But she closed her salon two times because she got pregnant. After the first child, I went back to her, but after the second I tried the salon in my house (I live in an apartment complex and on the first floor are different businesses: restaurants, a fitness center, and also a tanning salon with a nail tech).

And then there came Covid. The salon had to close during the lockdown... And I "lost" my nails. That's now over 2 years ago and I still have no nails. Yes, I know the salons are open for months, but I'm still don't have any contact with people except my hubby, but we live together 🤣 But I really miss it SOOOOO much 😫

In April I saw an ad for poly gel nails. And I was flashed. I watched videos on YouTube and yes, that could be my solution. With this technique, it could be possible for me to also make my right hand. Because with the dual forms it should be so easy.

I searched for different places to get all the supplies. Amazon has lots of stuff, but for example, no single gel colors only kits with different colors. So I ended up at AliExpress. It's also so much cheaper. Yes, the delivery is much longer, but for this price, I can wait ... I waited two years, so what are a few weeks or months then?😉

And while I'm waiting for everything I ordered, I searched in the cellar in my crafting supplies for things I can use for my nails too. I knew I have a lot of stuff, and so it is ...

But first I will show you my nail table 😍 It's not complete now, but it will be soon. A few things I ordered have already arrived so they are on the table. I'll show you everything soon in detail. And I also will make a post with ALL the stuff I ordered on AliE with the dates I ordered them and when they have arrived. Sometimes it gets really fast and sometimes it takes ages... 🙈

This is my table when I first put a few things on it ... It's in the living room. Actually, we don't really use our living room 🙈 It's always really hot in there because of a HUGHE window on the sunny side. But I hope it will work. The table isn't in the sun, because it is around a little corner. I first thought I will make my nails in the office room, but it has the same huge window on the same sunny side. Plus I think I will make lots of dust so it's better to do it in another room and don't disturb my hubby while he is working 😁

And now it has a new tablecloth. I thought of one clear for over the purple one from the first pic, but they hadn't a clear one PLUS I LOVE the blue one with the flowers more 😍

As you can see in the first pic, there is a shelf on the wall. It should be hung further down plus a second one. So I'll have space for my gels 😊 Next time hubby will visit his parents he will bring the drilling machine. We only have a light one that isn't strong enough for our walls 😏

I'm so excited to start ... And I'm so excited to show you all my failures but also my successes 😁 And yes, I know I'll fail a lot, but that's how learning works.

Oh, and I think I'm a little addicted to cuticle oils. Every time I visit a shop, I have to look if they have cuticle oils and if so, I buy one or two... 🙈 But cuticle oil is SO important. And especially if you have gel or acrylic nails.

The one in the middle is my oldest one. I bought it at my nail tech YEARS ago but never used it at home 🙈 The ones left and right of it I bought a few weeks ago at a German drugstore. The yellow one I bought at a discounter and the pink one at a German store like Dollar Tree. Only two more and I have one for every day of the week 🤣

❓❓❓ Question ❓❓❓
Do you have a permanent nail table, or do you have to put it away after you have finished?
I would love to see your tables or "settings"... 😊

Doing the non-dominant hand is really tricky! I never get to have a smooth finished with my right hand too! Doing DIY is much more cheaper. Not to mention, you are more focused than ever! Well, I'm excited to see your DIY nail arts in the future!

Yes, that was my problem 20 years ago when I tried it. But now there are dual forms and I can prepare the gel before I put it on the finger. So it should be easier to work on the dominant hand. But I will work on it to learn to work without any tips/forms. Nobody rushes me, so I can work at my own pace... 😊
I hope my stater kit will arrive soon, I'm sooo excited 😁 And I'll definitely show all my sets 👍
I already typing a post about my stuff, so when everything has arrived I'll show it...
But I'm not sure if it is really cheaper 🙈 There is sooo much stuff you want to have and more and more and more... 🤣

If I end up drooling over your starter kit, I might just go back to doing my DIY nails too! 😂.

🤣🤣 I couldn't resist the starter kit. But I'm still buying stuff. AliExpress can be really addictive 🙈 I'll make a post about dual forms too. I have soo many ideas about things I'll share with all of you, from a beginner to other beginners. And with over 20 years of customer experience and talking with my nail techs about many things... I hope that will help me to don't make too many mistakes 😎
