Walked Away | Tale of an Interview

What a hectic day it was!! I had to travel to another city and come back home on the same day. I was on a nine-hour bus journey in total, can you imagine the hassle now? It would have been max six with comfort if the train was available, it's unavailable due to the current unrest in the country which is slowing down.

So, I faced an interview. I wasn't that comfortable with that, but still, I had to go for it as things are a little bit messed up for me right now. So I reached my destination in time, not a minute earlier or late, just in time after travelling for five hours. So it was a training session for the previously selected candidates and I was called together to be interviewed and get an idea of how things go here. It was a helpful one as it helped me to make the decision without any further ado. There were probably fifteen people in that room, four of us were called for an interview. Guess what, i was the first to go but again I cam back and got to hear the other's at peace.

"ᵂᵒʳᵈˢ ᵃⁿᵈ ᵖⁱᶜˢ ᵃʳᵉ ᵐⁱⁿᵉ, ᵘⁿˡᵉˢˢ ᴵ ˢʰᵒᵘᵗᵒᵘᵗ ʷʰᵉʳᵉ ᵗʰᵉʸ ᶜᵃᵐᵉ ᶠʳᵒᵐ!"

So when I was called to face the interviewer, three of them, I first handed them my CV, one went through that thoroughly and passed it to someone else. The first one asked all the questions and explained things. There were two things in my CV that I had highlighted to present myself and he did ask for the same thing as well. Coincidentally he was also familiar and interested in the same sectors as well. It is to be noted, that we both are negotiating for completely different sectors, nor he is in his interested ones, nor I did go for my interested ones, that's how life goes I guess. He asked me questions and I explained them even better than his idea on the topics because he had asked some questions with some misconceptions and I did clear them out with due respect. He was humble too, he politely explained to me the things I might miss if I came to this profession, he presented them side by side and gave me time to think. He stated clearly that he wanted me but left the decision to me if I would take all the hardships and sacrifices that were going to come.

About the decision?

After the interview, I was told to attend the training session with the others, so there I got introduced to others who had been already going through the phase. Talked with them about things, first of all about the salary I would be getting for the insane twelve hours of duty, Yeah, fre***ng twelve hours and that was the key factor for which I had been against this from the start. After talking with a few I was sure that this was not for me, never ever. After the end of the session, I said farewell for that day and told him that I would let him know about my final decision. I talked to my brother who had also agreed with me and I just stepped out from this. When I texted my interviewer about my decision he took it positively and wished me good luck for my future as well.

So yeah, this was the journey of the day, I got to experience and learn a few things. Those who are doing the job are really working hard, like insane. Can you imagine a duty of twelve hours? Travelling would eat one or two more hours, what's left in a day? And the pay scale is nowhere justifiable for such hard work, really don't. I am feeling like beating myself up for wasting my time like nothing, if I had dedicated such long hours to my own ambitions then I would have surely acquired something meaningful by now. I just haven't, all my fault, none else. I will be solely responsible for my own downfall, nothing else to blame. I just pray and hope this becomes a lesson for me and pushes me towards more dedication and hard work. Keep me in your prayers.

Have a great day,
Take Care!!
