Recreate | Moments to Cherish

“How long will you take to get ready?”
“Just five minutes, I am done.”
“That's what you have been saying for the last two hours.”
“ Stop complaining, help me with my hair.”

I gently placed my hand on her hair, black hairs that go a long around her back, a smell that is years old. Every time I am around her, I can feel this refreshing smell. This is her, this is my love. Ah, the unique fragrance that tells me about her identity even if I am blind.

“I don't want a car today, we will go via rickshaw.”
“Rickshaw? Why?”
“No reason, I am just feeling like that.”

Yes, there is a reason. It's been a decade that we have been together. From a teenage relationship to marriage, so much has changed. Priorities in life have changed too along with the responsibilities.

Suddenly I noticed that the Punjabi she had chosen for me is a redish one and she wore a saree which is the same colour as well. Is it a coincidence? Nope, that's a decade since we first met in this attire. Saree and Punjabi, which were of the same colour.

A decade ago, on the same date, she asked me what colour my Punjabi was going to be tomorrow, and from that, she now says, “This color will look good on you today, a fragrance of spring is in the weather,” and she wears the same. So it's not a coincidence, it's her trying to recreate that day. And so she took the rickshaw, the most enjoyable vehicle in the Dhaka streets. Slow and steady transportation.

"ᵂᵒʳᵈˢ ᵃⁿᵈ ᵖⁱᶜˢ ᵃʳᵉ ᵐⁱⁿᵉ, ᵘⁿˡᵉˢˢ ᴵ ˢʰᵒᵘᵗᵒᵘᵗ ʷʰᵉʳᵉ ᵗʰᵉʸ ᶜᵃᵐᵉ ᶠʳᵒᵐ!"

Did I forget? Yeah, I did. But to overcome this embarrassment, I am wondering what to do. Felt a fragrance in the air, and told the driver to give a break on that corner. I rushed to a flower shop and took seven to eight types of flowers that were wrapped together. This is exactly the same that I gave a decade ago. The smile on her face and sparkling eyes are still crystal clear in my heart. I just said, “I love you, today, tomorrow, and forever.” Saying so, handed over these flowers to her, a token of love. Now she is happy, super happy.

Just a week ago, disputes were like never settling and felt like the most serious issue that would result in separation. Short-tempered person, but this is what it is. Things get around in no time. The wheels are rolling and we are moving forward, while my hands are on hers, I notice the earrings that I gifted on her birthday years ago.

With a smile, I just said, “I love you.”

I know these earrings are too heavy for her to wear, but noob me purchased what captured my eyes. Indifferent to the weights that might make her suffer, and she still kept them intact and wore them for me.

It's evening, and darkness everywhere, we reached the TSC area. It's been a long time since we stepped out of the car in these streets and had a talk over tea cups.

“So it's the same one then?”
“Sure!!”

Maybe the seller has changed, maybe the taste has changed as well, but the nostalgic feeling is evergreen.

While walking down the greenery of Curzon Hall, a kid appeared before us with a garland of flowers. During that time there used to be a shortage of money and so we would chase them away mostly.

“This one would look good on your hair, lemme put this on you.”

The kid left the place with a smile as she got more than the actual price.

The wheels are rolling, time to return to our den, and she is holding my hands tightly as if we would go to our respective places just like a decade ago. Yeah, those were the saddest parts when we would divide our ways and return home after spending the whole day enjoying one another.

“I didn’t break the illusion, I hugged her as if we would part our ways.”

We reached our basement, the same destination for both. Those saddest endings do not exist anymore. We are together yet so busy with our daily lives and responsibilities that we have almost forgotten how to live actually.

Back to the rush of life, waiting for another day to live like actual living.

Your story captures some sweet moments between married people who are navigating the next phase of their relationship and remembering their early days with nostalgia. The narrator clearly loves his wife with all his heart even as he is challenged by daily life to remain close to her. It's a nice story. Thank you for sharing it.

This couple's love and the moments they shared during a day out make me yearn for a love that would move from a youthful one to a mature, enduring bond even in the face of challenges. Well done on the details.

Love comes into everyone's life, maybe two days earlier or later. Sit tight and wait for the right moments, best of luck.

After a long time the spouses renewed their love and remembered why they had gotten married. A beautiful love story that survives the routine and hustle and bustle of modernity.

Thanks for sharing.
Good day.
