Bloody Stairs
After five years of relationship, Sara and Rahel are finally going to be married; both of them were batch mates and shared some common interests that brought them together. Interest in historical architects gave them the idea to arrange their wedding in an ancient way, maybe something like an old palace, and have some rituals that are found in the history books.
They had booked an ancient palace that was abandoned for a long time and repaired it for them as they were willing to pay a considerable sum of cash. Things got arranged, and they were getting married in a unique way there. But there was a little incident; while Sara was walking down the stairs, dressed as a magnificent bride, she got some illusions of someone covered with blood sliding through the stairs, and she became senseless instantly. It took her a day to get back to normal, and the wedding was postponed for that day.
They have two weeks, so they are going to enjoy every bit of those moments. Everyone is wearing costumes with a theme that goes with ancient times; their dining is decorated in that way, and everything is being recreated as if they have left the modern era and are sliding back to the old times.
The following day Sara wakes up early in the morning and sees someone cleaning those stairs with a lot of care. She started to have flashbacks, blurry memories, and severe headaches. If Rahel hadn't come searching for her, then she must have fainted again.
"What happened to you?" asked Rahel when Sara came back to normal.
"Who is that boy? I felt like I knew him. I don't know what happens to me whenever I go near those stairs, illusions as if someone died there; someone was murdered, someone very close to me. Let's go from here; I am getting afraid of it; I can't afford something to happen to you." Sara says and starts to cry.
When the boy walks through the door, Sara gets scared at first, but Rahel holds her hand tightly. He shouts at him to leave immediately.
Later Rahel tries to inquire about the history of this place out of curiosity, and a mysterious story appears before him. Long ago, an emperor used to rule here and fell in love with an ordinary girl; she had a divine beauty. He tried to have her, but she was in love with another boy, they were trying to create their own world of happiness together. The emperor murdered that boy brutally in front of that girl. The stairs were covered with blood, and the emperor took away the girl. Losing her love, she then committed suicide within a week, and that's how their love story remained incomplete.
"History is going to repeat again, and it must not have the same ending." farewell words from the priest.
The boy, Sinan, finally finds a scope to talk to Sara and explains the similar illusions he gets at those stairs. Something has been hunting him for a long time, and he tells her the prophecy made on him that these riddles will be solved here; nothing can cure this except this place. He tries to narrate the history, what happened here, how the emperor separated two lovers and the possibility that the unfortunate lovers were Sara and Sinan themselves; fortune brought them together again, and this time they mustn't get separated. Sara has her illusions again; this time, everything is happening before her eyes, everything is so clear except the faces, and she faints again.
Sara doesn't want to believe any of these; she doesn't want any explanations and doesn't wanna hear any of them. She knows that she loves Rahel and is going to marry him; nothing matters before that. Everything is arranged again; she is dressed as a beautiful bride and must come down the stairs facing those illusions, but this time Sinan appears before them with a sword, just like the emperor did last time. He claims her to be his lost love that Rahel took away, being the cruel emperor hundreds of years ago; this time, history is not going to repeat itself.
Rahel starts to speak calmly, "Yes, history is not going to repeat itself; show us your chest. Do you know what that symbol is?"
"Sinan, you were the emperor, that symbol in your chest shows your identity." says the priest.
Instantly Sinan starts to get illusions of him being the emperor and murdering that boy. All the blurred faces are now clear; the puzzle on his mind got solved, not in the way he was assuming. Sinan couldn't take this guilt, he was the reason in their way and was going to make the same mistake again. Thinking all this he suddenly drew his sword and killed himself; once again, the stairs were covered with blood, Sara and Rahel walked down those bloody stairs, and this time she didn't have any illusions. Finally, they are together. History has paid the debt and they are on their way to creating their unfinished world of love and happiness.
How terribly unfortunate that the site this couple picked for their nuptials ended up roping them into an ancient prophesy. Although, from the sounds of it, they may not have had much choice in the matter.
This story has many well-developed plot points, however we believe it would benefit from a stronger structure. There are many run-on sentences here, which jolt the pace of the plot. To prevent this, many authors utilize Google Documents to draft their posts. Otherwise, this is a very creative and a wonderful read. Thank you for sharing your story with us, and for your engagement with other members of the community.
I haven't written fiction actively in past so a long way to be perfect.
Trying to listen to all your advice and working on them.
It feels so good to see you guys dedicating so much time to read and guide each of the posts, I do appreciate the efforts.
I wonder these type of story related to history, vengeance and a spooky part always throw a thrill and very enjoyable a story to read. I guess, such stories of Emperor's opening Harem or their personal amusements still bear the testimony in the heritaged palaces and buildings they ruled long ago ; the emperors disappeared but their legacy remained as the same.
Indian Subcontinent is full of such figures, tbh..
Exactly, in my city, there are some such places that are still representing their legacy.
Btw check The Ink Well community, you do write amazing fiction, so pay a visit to their official account which goes the same as the community name.
Thank you for stopping by.
