Soul Cleansing

After spending a week in the busy city of Leicester, a forest bath was needed to re-balance my mind and restore some calm.
It was lovely being back in a multicultured and vibrant town, but somehow, the hustle and bustle were overwhelming, and my mind felt like it had gone haywire.

As I roamed the streets I observed just how much everyone is caught up with consumerism. Much of the conversations I engaged in were centred on recent purchases, items that needed to be purchased, and other agendas, all dependent on external resources for happiness.

Everything seemed fake, and I felt like people were going to extremes to escape their realities. Elaborate hairstyles and extensions, eyelashes as big as eyes, faces plastered with makeup, and designer clothes, yet unhappy and unfriendly faces, with little humility in their body language and actions.

As I sat on the wood peacefully with a sense of serenity being restored, I started to analyse my feelings.

Is my minimalist lifestyle becoming extreme?

I don't think so, because the simplistic way that I live makes me blissful. My emotional and mental health is stable and balanced, and I'm making adjustments to increase my physicality to improve my physical health. I'm also satisfied with my ability to continuously create my inner happiness and find content in the activities that I engage in.

Still, the feeling of living in two parallel worlds has left me unsettled, and I will reexamine my life to see if perhaps I need to find a new balance.

I think it's important to do whatever makes me truly happy, but my thoughts were that I could research some economical, hassle-free alternative ways to travel and into bigger towns and cities such as London. Maybe visits to museums, exploring history, and taking moments to absorb the beautiful architecture of the streets of London would enhance and bring a new balance that is still in keeping with my minimalist way of life.

There are many thoughts and I just had to free my mind.

Images in the woods were taken just for this blog, as when I'm forest bathing I do not have any gadgets. I'm disconnected and in tune with the sounds and feels of nature, as I inhale positivity and exhale any negative energy that I sense in my body.

How do you maintain balance in your lives?

I wish you a happy Sunday and I hope that you're having a slow and easy one:)))

It looks blissful indeed. I lived in cities all my life and now I avoid them as much as possible. Perhaps it's an age thing. Not in your case m'dear, obviously!

Hehe! I really do think it's an ageing thing, actually.
The older I get, the more peace and quiet appeals to me:)))

I can totally relate!!
...and every time I enter a big town, I feel like I get tired from all the overstimulation of al my senses.
And I couldn't think of much better than a forest bath afterwards or at any time!
I find though, that cities with more green in or around make it a lot easier. Like parks or when you can take a swim in a river/sea... (so much to your thoughts about balancing the forest out with the city)

I feel like I get tired from all the overstimulation of all my senses.

You have said that so well. That's exactly what I felt, in an unpleasant way.

Yes, I love cities that are surrounded by nature. Leicester actually has a lot of it, and I avoided many of the main roads and spent time in the parks, that all lead to the town. Unfortunately, I couldn't avoid much of the chaos in the town though.
I'm happy that you related to what I felt.
Have a lovely and relaxing Sunday:)))

Hi dear friend @millycf1976 Happy Sunday
You are quite right, consumption is part of the everyday conversation, especially here in Argentina, about the cost of the product and how to buy more cheaply.
If you need to renew your energy, after you are in a busy city, without a doubt, a forest bath is the best option.
As a family, we have been putting minimalism into practice, and focusing only on the most essential, even discarding all items that are not extremely necessary.
We maintain my mental and emotional balance with a walk in nature
Have a beautiful day

I think that's the best one can do for their overall well-being. I'm sure everyone in your family will reap the benefits of that, in one way or another:)))

I love your words my dear @millycf1976 😻 I needed to read this today to stay focused 🙌🏻

Sometimes it happens to me that when I hear these conversations and see the lifestyle others lead (as happened to you in Leicester), I wonder if I am doing it right. They seem happy and even fulfilled. But, when I equally analyze what I am thanks to my simple lifestyle, what I now really value, my attitude towards people and things, I also tell myself that my minimalist life is 100% worth it 💟

That forest fascinates me. In the photos you can perceive very well the texture of the bark of the tree 🤩

Thank you 😊

I also tell myself that my minimalist life is 100% worth it 💟

I am sure of that too 🤗

Yes, it's nice to see the texture of the tree bark when it's in that position. I'll try to spend at least an hour in the woods every day :)))

I think it's important to do whatever makes me truly happy,

Completely. Maybe if the question popped up in the first place (whether the minimalism is extreme), it's at least worth looking into. Maybe something got unsettled there, even if the answer is no, in the end. It's good. To keep growing, changing, exploring how you wanna live, and I love that you're doing that <3

As much as I love that huge log - it looks so safe to lie there a while <3

Wow,thanks mama @millycf1976
This your writing actually give structural definition to what minimalism really means.

I think it's important to do whatever makes me truly happy, but my thoughts were that I could research some economical, hassle-free alternative ways to travel and into bigger towns and cities such as London.

Actually, minimalism is equal to happiness and once you get happiness you're already in the city of balance, please go ahead doing what will make you happy. London is actually where you can go to have a good time.

One of the way minimalism as really made me happy far beyond my material possessions is by helping me to manage my time ,energy, money, and all beautiful things around me.

The same as I feel sometimes. Not only a parallel world, sometimes it feels like a parallel universe!
Hehe ok, for a minimalist my lifestyle probably is like being a messie 😅 but I dont understand why they all still need more and more stuff.

Recently was thinking a lot about the old toys I showed and about starting to deeply declutter my life, let go, setting energies free. Also as part of the healing journey.

Thank you for the Inspiration

Wow! That would be a massive emotional decision, however, I understand it in regard to growth and healing.

All the best wishes in coming to terms with it all 🤗💜🙏

I can relate to the fact that most people have practically lost all sense of self and just depend on materialism to gain a modicum of happiness.

You seem so well and at peace, so I'm sure that the forest bathing must have done you a world of good.🤗

Yes, you have said that so well.

I intend to spend most of my days in nature now that the weather is warm. Then I'll appreciate Autumn and Winter more when that time comes.
Thanks for stopping by 😊
