I work a lot in water and know just how powerful and unpredictable currents can be. Sometimes his friends might suggest things that sound adventurous, but he's always cautious because he knows that we could be faced with extreme conditions at any moment.

Yeah, if blankets are sufficient in places like Spain, then I think that's the best option. I understand about single glass - it does make a noticeable difference.

We have a small electric radiator on the boat for backup and if it should ever get unbearable cold, but I don't think we'll need it, and we could only use it if we were hooked up to main power anyhow.

We have a generator and a powerful power bank, but it's not strong enough for the radiator.

It's been ages since I went to Spain, but I do love the milder winters there:)))
