Could it be "us"
I'm doing my best to spend a few hours per day outdoors during this period to acclimatise to the cold as winter comes. So, hubby asked me to claim his minuscule lottery win to purchase a new lottery ticket since I was heading close to the Lottery Outlet.
I never buy lottery tickets because I'm a realistic person, and I feel that the chance of me winning the lottery is rare to none. Yet, I know some people do win the lottery against all odds.
My husband purchases the occasional lottery ticket on the premise that if you don't buy a ticket, you do not stand a chance to win, so I was happy to do it for him.
Observing the bright blue above was cheerful, and the weather felt mild with just a slight chill. However, there was an earthy smell permeating the air, and something told me that I was wise to have brought an umbrella despite it feeling cumbersome at that moment.
The roads were quiet, with garbage bins lined up for collection, so I tried to capture a few clear shots, as the hills lining the clouds had stunning views.
Walking along the street, I saw some binmen approaching as they went ahead of the truck to collect some bins. We exchanged pleasantries, appreciating the mild weather, and they warned that a storm was coming.
So, I took these shots and increased my pace to the supermarket to purchase the lottery ticket.
I was happy to be the only one purchasing the lottery, and I had one of those "asking for a friend" moments, that proxy-seeking thing.
I pointed out to the cashier that the ticket was for my husband as if I were attempting to make it clear that I was not delusional about winning the lottery.
... Oh, yes! I could do with a huge win...
I curiously asked the cashier if he, by chance, noticed a trend of men purchasing the lottery more than women. He did not have a direct answer, but he said this weekend's lottery jackpot was huge, so he had been busy.
While there, I checked out a few aisles and passed some time, and when I exited, I realised that I had missed a drencher.
I love a rainy afternoon in the woodlands, especially when my hands are free so I can stop to take photos.
I spotted this lovely mushroom, which has been the highlight of my day.
I met a few dogwalkers who were hurrying to beat the rain, and I took heed and made it home just before another cloudburst.
The weather is awful with severe storm alerts for the next few days, so, I think my walk was timely, as I might be grounded tomorrow.
I've been googling mushrooms, trying to figure out what type of mushroom this is. So far, it appears to be from the fly agaric family, and it appears poisonous. Does anyone know? Also, do you purchase the lottery ticket religiously, or occasionally, with high hopes?
All the images above were taken by me on this day, 1 Nov 2023, in Newton Abbot, Devon.

So many beautiful images.
Thank you 😊
I'm pleased with how they came out, considering what is happening outside at the moment. It's 03:00 AM but I just love the sound of the rain and I like watching it from my window :)
Hahaha, this is funny and I think I'm like you when it comes to lottery tickets, but I wish your hubby a big win this time.
Hehe! 😆
I cringed when he asked me to 😂
It would be great if he wins though 🤞
🤣
HAHA. You might be the one waiting to bet on Cameron's lucky numbers to win Cam. Also here in the Philippines, the jackpot prizes are big since it is almost December and they say they wanted to give Christmas presents so they’re increasing prizes, so I'm taking a risk. Every time I pass an outlet, I bet to take a chance win too.😁
Anyway good luck to both of us and Stay safe there always.
Hey Laica 😁
We just don't have that kind of luck and honestly, I'm not sure my heart to take that kind of excitement.
I guess it's tempting for you to buy lotter tickets 😆
Thanks for stopping by, and you have. great day:)))
We’ll never know the future Cam as long as Cameron is still buying ticket it’s not impossible to win 😁. Anyway, I hoping for the best of luck 🤞.
You're welcome and be safe!
🤗😊
Good for your husband that he won the lottery, someone always wins even if a million people have to lose for it hahaha.
I think you took so many beautiful photos, the white feathers, the fuchsia flower, the bird in full flight, your boots on the fallen leaves, are my favorites.
And maybe I'm a bit bold asking, but I'm curious to know who took your last photo, which is also great.
Hehe! Thank you 😊
I took all the photos. I go walking with my mobile and tripod. I never got the chance to check the last photos, because I had to make a quick run, but it came out okay. It was some strange weather. I stood a that spot where the sun was streaking through, while the clouds were waiting to open up:)))
When I first a lottery ticket, I was hesitant because might think I'm addicted to it... But ever since, I only bought a few times and one today haha.
My brother is into it...
I'm looking forward to seeing autumn leaves here. Winter is approaching but leaves are still green haha....but I like the weather.. A bit cold wind, yet sunny....
Yeah, I think those things are easy to get addicted to, especially if you make even a small win that gives you false hope.😆
Autumn is a nice warm time, indeed so I hope you'll have time to enjoy some time outdoors:)))
My, Mommy D (my aunt partner) is the one who always buy a lottery ticket, while me, I just bought 3 of it last month with the hope the I might win, but sadly, luck is not with me haha. I am so delusional to think that I might one of those lucky folks whoe could win on this, lol. After that 3 ticket, I don't have a plan to buy it anymore, lol. As for Mommy D, she's still buying it and I'm the one who always have to look up of the result on the internet, lol. And she's still hopeful especially we really need cash right now ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
Hehe 😆
Yeah, we could all do with big wins, but maybe it's a good thing that you leave lottery purchases to Mommy D:)))
When it comes to lotteries, my thoughts go only two ways...
"I'm not that person, I'm not lucky enough to win such prizes"
or
"If you don't even try, you have a 0% chance of winning. So, even if there is a 1% chance, just go for it.
That's how it's always been for me. And most of the time the first thought wins. 😂
Haha!😆 The first thought wins for me every time. Yet, I apply the principle of going after what I want and giving every thing a try, for other aspects of my life. 🤷♀
That's how it should be I'd say. It's just these lotteries and things that require a ton of luck I'm reluctant about. Because I know my luck isn't the best, I doubt there's anything called good luck in my life.
But, when it comes to anything well-deserved and earned? That, I do have in my life.
I like that you're self-aware and conscious of your decisions. Otherwise, it's easy to fall into traps which can cause us to lose motivation.
I think I could say the same for myself:))
I say that's our first real challenge in life, getting to know ourselves...
Then that deserves a hi5. 🤝
Haha!
Happy Weekend:)
Same to you, Milly. Cheers ☕️✨
Oh gosh, I haven't bought a lottery ticket in a very long time. I'm like you I don't see myself holding a winning ticket, haha. I will say they get so huge and seems to be many different ones here.
Beautiful scenery of your place and it's a reminder I have some leaves to rake, haha. It's suppose to be a mild temperatures this weekend here so it will be perfect for it. Have a great rest of your day and weekend
Yeah, the cashier said the jackpot is huge and I still haven't checked to see just how what we stand the chance of winning 🤣
It's stunning indeed, and it's tempting to go out for walks despite the weather conditions. However, I'll do the smart thing and stay indoors.
Raking leaves could soothe the mind, so I'd say, go for it 😁
Have a lovely day and a great weekend too:)))
Hahaha I think the same about lottery tickets. !LOL
The weather here isn’t any better. Rain rain and some more.
We are trying to go out every day too, so monitoring the weather closely and trying to find a dry spot.
Enjoy the changing of seasons.
Have a great day 👋🏻😊

Haha! Gotta love corny jokes 🤣
Hehe! 😍
Thank you 😊
I never check the weather, but I'll have to do so over the next few days. It's best for me to avoid being in the woods, in the event of trees falling.
I'll cosy up by the window with my coffee in hand.
Have a great day too 🍂☕️
You are welcome 😊
Yep, you don’t want that with the storms. Better to check so you have an idea.
Oh… I long for a fireplace now… hehehe 🤭
Thanks a lot, enjoy your afternoon 👋🏻
Wow! That's exactly what I need right now:)😘
Ours doesn’t work and landlord isn’t fixing it. Sadly…
But yes, it would be perfect for this time of the year 😎
That's sad and selfish and a bad financial decision for a property owner 😏
Yep… had more like this before. It’s time we own something ourselves, so can make it ours and fix things if needed 😁
Have a great Friday!
I know what you mean.🤗
Happy Friday too ☕️🤗
Thank you 😊
🤗😊
que bonitas imagenes, el cambio de estación es muy lindo!
what beautiful images, the change of season is very nice!
Thank you!
Yes, this time of year is intriguing and inspiring:)
such beautiful shots on your walk
I very rarely buy lottery tickets, but when it gets to huge prizes I splash out and get one, the old got to give it a shot thing LOL
Thanks for joining the Wednesday walk :)
Hehe! I guess one never knows. As long as the old remembers what they do with the ticket, then I'm with you on your logic.
Thanks you 😊 ... I appreciate the photos more now while I'm watching the awful weather from inside.
Thanks for stopping by:)))
👍🙂👍
🤗☕️
Your husband is right, you always have to make a lottery play, although the chances are unlikely, there are people who become millionaires from it; It's good that at least you saved the bet and can bet again, it's a new chance to be a winner
It's great that you brought the umbrella, in winter you never know when you'll need it. Beautiful photographs, you can't believe that the Halloween celebrations have already passed, and that the pumpkins are already in the trash
I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid day dear friend @millycf1976
Yeah, life is all about opening up ourselves to chances 😆
It's funny what a difference a day makes indeed, and now everyone is looking forward to Guy Fawkes, then Thanksgiving for those across the waters, and before you know it, it will be the removal of Christmas decorations.
That's why it's important to embrace each moment and focus only on the important things that matter.
Have a great day too @jlufer :)))
Seems like you would always have to carry an umbrella in the UK just to be safe?
I never buy lottery tickets. It's probably been at least 8 years since I purchased one
Yeah, if ever you make it to the UK, take a strong umbrella, cos you'll need it 😆
Hehe, was that due to a huge win? 😅
No. I think the most I ever one was essentially a free ticket 😆
Hehe! I guess it felt good to 😆
I like your husband's attitude. It's like that old joke about the guy who for years prays "oh Lord please let me win the lottery, please let me win." Finally, fed up, God throws down a lighting bolt, and shouts "buy a stinking ticket already!". :D
I like the idea of acclimatizing to the cold, especially since today has been the first cold day here, rainy too, and I was reluctant about stepping out. Finally got myself out the door, and immediately felt so good when that fresh air hit. Gotta keep working towards acclimatization, 'cause four months of indoor life doesn't sound like life.
Haha! I never heard that joke before, but it's super funny 😆
You've been lucky weather-wise. It's been cold and rainy here for quite some time, and today is Mordor (as hubby would say).
I'm happy that you went out today, and as soon as this storm passes I'll try to go out even for brief walks too.
Once I'm dressed for the weather wearing comfy boots/shoes, I'm okay.
Have a lovely day:)))
Full disclosure - I didn't go out at all today. To protest the cool weather! Hope it works and tomorrow is going to be sunny as promised!
My mom used to buy lottery tickets. For many years she did that religiously, despite only winning very little money. She had various sets of lucky numbers, mostly birth dates and other significant dates. Just like you, I wouldn't mind winning but I don't bother to play the lottery given the odds :)
I think your bad weather today has to do with Storm Ciaran, so things should be pretty much back to normal soon. I can't say the same for the UK though.
Yeh, the odds are just too great 😆
