RE: Pre-wedding rituals : Mangalakrutya and Haldi Ceremony
You are viewing a single comment's thread:
Everything has turned yellow, which is perfectly commensurate with the occasion and the event's name.
The rituals and functions have also undergone evolution with the passage of time. Each event is being celebrated in a big way to make it memorable. But that is also possible because the purchasing power of society has gone up.
Every region has a distinct regional bias when it comes to the various events related to Marriage and Odisha is no exception. But I think in the era of social media a sweeping proposition of marriage event is evolving rapidly.
Good Luck to the bride for the new innings of life.
Thank you.

Yes, that's true, money is not a constraint any more.
Yesterday I read in the Newspaper that the wedding cost in cities on average is 36 lakhs in India. That is huge when compared to rural India.
Ya, people don't hesitate to spend on these occasions, but then there are people who think, this is unjustified.
It should be an individual choice, however, competition among families in societies or among relatives to go for conspicuous consumption should be avoided. Comparision is a thing in Indian society.
