IT`S A COLD WORLD BUT SHE NEVER LOST IT
Jola and i both attended the same secondary school. Our journey together with some of my friends like, emmanuel, daniel, shadiat, alisha, David and all other started from primary 5, till we graduated together. Jola and I had never for once had a conversation together even though her seat was just two step backward from mine.

I was a gentle and meek type, some people find me boring which is kind of hard for them to relate with me. My only friends that we were close were isaiah and tosin. We three had similar characteristics. whenever it was break time and everyone had left we would have to wait for each other before we move.
In Nigeria Education state we spend 5 years in primary and 6 years in secondary. The secondary level is divided into two whereby we have the Junior secondary and the senior secondary, under the junior we have the Jss1, Jss2, Jss3(junior secondary school) while under the senior we have the SS1, Ss2, ss3,(senior secondary and junior secondary)
I was in Jss2 when we heard the news of Jola losing her dad. All of us in the class felt bad for her. we all felt bad because we understand what it means to losing someone precious to us. I was speechless and sad because jola was still little to lose a father figure in a home.
The Third Day Jola came to School, we all welcomed her back, i was just standing idle looking at her beautiful face not even fading away after all the tears and all. After we all welcomed her back i summoned the courage and approached her, i said
mike; sorry you had to go through so much pain
jola; (sobers) Thank You mike
Mike; If you need anyone to to talk to my ears are yours
jola; Thank You mike, i have heard you.
Then i left and went back to my seat. Few minutes later the math teacher walked in, then we resumed our lectures.
Later on, Jola and i became close friends in school with some of her friends and mine also. We all did assignment together, play in class together and make jokes together.
Although jola mom and her faced a lot of challenges from mom and friends but she never let it affect her. Jola had to work shift at night after school to assist her mom with the bills.
It is said that Education is the best legacy a kid can have. we all finished school and graduated together. Jola graduated with on of the best grades in school even with all her hard work and struggles she still became the top in the class.
Two Month After Our Graduation Jola Mom got married to another man. It was a good news to me but Jola wasn`t happy because she missed her dad she was scared if the man could act as a real father to her.
After reading this her text i noticed she was scared then i called her;
Mike; Fine, jolly how are you doing
Jola; Am not too fine, i am scared of the man my mom wants to marry.
Mike; why would you be scared, i know you to be a strong hardwroking lady that even though everything seems bad you always scape through and even though families or the world can act odd or wrongly to you, you always stand for your self. (then i asked her in a teasing tone) What is wrong with you Queen elizabeth
Jola; she smiled. and felt relieved.
Few month passed and never for once did jola called me to complain about her mom new husband. i then called her, and i felt a happy tone of comfort her voice. She shared a lot with me how the man has really helped her family and everyone around them, That those that mock her mom and her that her new dad good hearts and efforts had silenced. i felt happy for her
My Opinion and view about Jola story and what i learnt
Do not allow your emotions affect your decision.
never judge a book by its cover.
Every trials and pain we face is for a better good.
No matter what you face in life be a good person

She as really been through but she was not broken . Thank you for sharing this
It's a cool thing you shared the interaction and moments you had with Lola, afterall, What are friends for?
Jola is really a strong woman, despite all she went through, she never broke down. And you have also been a good friend to her, pushing her to more strong. Well-done 🙌
What doesn't break us makes us stronger.
It's beautiful seeing that despite her fears, she was later enjoying the new husband of her mom.

It sound like your friend Jola was a very strong person. She was fortunate that her step-father turned out to be a good man.
