The charge of rune crafters is to invent more and more ingenious ways to use runes to empower weapons and other devices. However, because there is no mana to spare on the ruined realms left in the wake of the Chaos Legion, not only do these inventions need to be ground-breaking, but the rune crafters must also design them with optimal efficiency in mind. Conservation is a must.

If they are to face off against the great might of the Chaos Legion, the Riftwatchers need every advantage they can get, and rune crafters are masters of innovation.
The rune crafter gazed across the pile of weapons on the table before him. The metal gleamed in the orange lantern light. He stroked his beard with a smile. Many people would only see disused weaponry and junk. He saw potential.

“What are you thinking?” Oshuur stood beside him, arms crossed as she took in the latest collection of weapons they had scavenged.

“I’ve got many ideas,” he said. “Especially for this one.”

The rune crafter pointed at a crossbow. It was in better condition than most of the junk. When following the Chaos Legion across realms, they had to make do with what they could find. Like all rune crafters, though, he was resourceful, and he was confident he could turn trash into treasure.

The rune crafter hefted the crossbow and turned it in his hands. He could already envision the glowing runes etched into it.

“I think I’ll keep this one for myself,” he said.
