Abounding The More In Love

‭Philippians 1:9-10 (NIV‬) And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, [10] so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ

The Apostle Paul prayed a very important prayer for us through the Holy Spirit. He prayed that we might abound more and more in love. This the love of Christ and our love for the brethren.

That Love

The world knows a different kind of love from the love we are taught in the Bible. The love of the world is self centered. People love what is beneficial to them. They share their love among their cycle where they are likely to get something back in return. They give to those who will recognize them and give them back. Such is the love of the world. It is a selfish kind of love.

Romans 5:8 (KJV) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

The love of God is a love that all that it has. It is a love that is willing to lay down its life for others. That is the love that brought us salvation. The Bible says God love us even when we had no love for Him, He loved us. He loved us so much that He gave His life for us even when it was not certain whether we will reciprocate that love. This is the kind of love that we should abound in.

When we abound in love, we will love each other selflessly. When we abound in love we will be kind to one another. When we abound in love we will care for each other. When we abound in love, the bond of perfect unity will exist among us. Let us abound in love for one another and towards God.
