Diy Origami Contest|| Cute Diy Origami Jewelry/ Hand Fan
It's world Origami day... Oh, I'm sorry about that! I guess I got too overwhelmed I forgot it was some weeks ago😗 Origami day is a day many people get to unleash their creative side of folding papers and turning them into beautiful crafts.
Origami is the Japanese art of paper-folding
This was my first time making Origami in so many years. When I saw this month's prompt, I was so nostalgic, I couldn't help but reminisce about old memories,
Memories from when I was still in school, how I would write letters and fold the papers into an airplane and send them to my friends sitting in front or at the back row. , or how I and my friends used to make boats that float in water, or even when we were too young to have mobile phones, and we would make phones out of paper and talk with our friends that are probably sitting next to us for hours hahaha.
Talking about keeping track of time, I also made wristwatches, because only the big kids had wristwatches back then hahaha.
All of these I mentioned, are made out of paper.
And my favorite back then was to make jewelry with paper. Like crowns, earrings, bracelets and so many more. And that's what I will be making for my entry for this contest.
Did I mention I could make handbags out of mango leaves and earrings out of straws? not me showing off my superpower hehe,
but that is not what we're talking about today so let's dive into our topic of discussion.
For my entry, I decided to go with my favorite paper craft back then, because recreating old memories is always fun. But this time around, I excluded the crown and added a hand fan.
Getting Origami paper is harder than I thought, so I used an alternative, I used cardboard paper which was a bit too hard to fold, but it came out pretty well. I wanted to use a white piece of paper to make these, but I thought it would be too plain and I wanted something a little bit colorful.
So here we go......
You can use the images for reference purposes
How to fold
Materials
5cm x 5cm paper ( cut as many as you need)
Glue
Topbond
Bead
Earring hook
Fishing line
Scissors
Hook for the necklace
Step 1
Firstly fold your paper into a triangular shape, and cut it into two parts. Repeat this same pattern for the rest. Once you're done cutting, you'll have a full triangle like the one in the picture. In other words ( one 5cm x 5cm paper gives you two triangles).
Note: if your measurement isn't correct, you won't be able to get the perfect triangle.
Step 2
For the next part, you'll start to fold. For the folding, start at the bottom part of the triangle, flip over, and fold. Repeat this same pattern until you get to the end of the paper. It's supposed to look like this.
Step 3
Now fold like this and use your bond to help stick together. And voila you're done. I used the same pattern for the earrings.
I made the necklace from scratch because why not😌, and it was pretty fun too.
Step 4
Once I was done with the necklace, I used glue to stick the Origami Leaf to the bead. I tried using top bond but it didn't stick.
Step 5
For the earrings, I first attached my bead, and then I used a little bit of pink yarn and glue to stick the earring hook to the Origami Leaf.
(The reason why I used yarn was that the earring hook wouldn't stick to the bead,)
And just like that my Origami necklace and earrings are ready to wear.
Steps for the Fan
Step 1
For the fan, I cut my cardboard into a 9cm x 9cm and folded it the same way I did with my Origami leaf.
I made two parts for the fan, and when I was done with the folding, I folded each side into two like the one in the picture.
Step 2
After folding, I joined the two parts together using a top bond. I left it for a few minutes and it was all dried up.
Step 3
For the design, I used the Origami leaf and beads to decorate it. I used a bond to stick everything firmly to the fan.
I guess you noticed that the hand of the fan is looking weird hahaha. I used a carton, which I cut into this shape and size for the hand.
I couldn't get my hands on Popsicle sticks so I had to improvise.
And this was how I made my Origami
Jewelry and hand fan I hope you like it.
I looked so pretty in my jewelry and hand fan 🤭
