My Freedom Of Speech Over Right To Privacy!

Phew! Thank goodness we're not asked to choose between "Right to Life" and "Freedom of Speech". The choice is obvious but there will be a problem with that free life 😅 Well, that isn't the topic so I won't stress on giving an explanation to that. What is choice with the two options? Freedom of speech or Right to life?

I'll choose to lose my right to privacy for my freedom of speech.

I wish I don't have to choose between the two but if it comes to that, I have a lot more reasons to value my freedom of speech to Privacy rights. The reasons are quite obvious but I'll share some other not so obvious reasons too.

If there is one thing I'm very sure of about this life is that, we are all humans and we need each other to know, to learn, to grow, to live and most importantly, to love. Imagine a world where every human loses their right to freedom of speech and are given full liberty to their privacy. Loneliness, depression, deep & dreadful secrets, unknown deaths would be the order of the day.

If I choose to keep my privacy rights, it obviously means I'm shutting myself away from the world and keeping to myself literally everything including what I know would definitely hurt me or might even kill me. I read somewhere that "Self care is talking it out with a friend" and then I wonder how that would be possible with the right to Privacy.

For Christians, what is the use of right to privacy when you have to tell the world about Christ no matter how opposed they are to what you teach from the Bible? I need my freedom speech to express God's words and sing wherever I choose to.

I'm not the kind to enjoy being around people always, I love my privacy too but I think I can deal with that more than dealing with not having the freedom of speech. I'm not choosing this in hopes of using it wrongly or against someone but I know I could do more with this right.

We often hear "Say No to this, Say No to that!" with the mind of putting a stop to what isn't fair or is causing more harm than good. What happens if I don't have the right to say anything against what I see that is wrong... It's quite unimaginable to me, I feel I'll live my private life in total guilt.

My speech could save lives in court, in a given situation and could explain better what I witness with no restrictions or bans. I could actually use my freedom of speech to control how my right to privacy would be like even though I could still lose that right totally.

As the Bible says and as we must have confirmed over time, our tongue is a powerful tool for humanity. While it could break someone, it could also mend and build great things in life. I choose my right to speech and would pray to tame my tongue in everything I do with my speech.

This choice isn't an easy one as I'm choosing not to look into what I'll have to face in losing my right to privacy but priotizing more what I'll get to enjoy or achieve in talking freely whenever and wherever with caution on my own accord.

With these reasons and many more I can't think of at the moment, I choose to keep my right to freedom of speech than to have my right to privacy.

If I were you, then I would choice the same. But still I want to know one answer. You don't remain alive then what is the meaning of freedom of speech? Being alive is also one kind of right 😅.

Right to life isn't in the option, I was just using that as an illustration.

Still, I want to know your thoughts if you need to choose between the two.

I respect your decision and the points are valid. We definitely need to speak, it's important and our right to privacy can't be underrated as well.

Both are quite important, very important.

Private life is boring like seriously, I have lived like that before and I can tell you that having too much privacy is boring so why not be open to people then have your freedom to speak whenever you want, though some people can poke nose too much but then speaking to them to let them know what you think they can know is not a bad idea.

To me, I will choose my freedom of speech as well because as a human you can't live all alone for the rest of your life

My dear, talking from experience is always a thing when it comes to these choices. I don't think I can bear with living such a boring life.

Both are very important in the life of every individual but I will also pick my freedom of speech over right to privacy.

I do agree with you. Choosing freedom of speech over privacy is wise if one is left with choice of choosing one.

Voice is a powerful tool to curbing so many vices in the society leading to a progressive society.

That is it, even know I know I'll be loosing out a lot in giving up my right to Privacy

That's understandable but regardless.

Our points are very valid, and I totally agree with you. But with the recent happenings in Nigeria and how the judiciary has been behaving, I doubt your speech can really have a huge impact. Having a private life does not equate to living in isolation or not speaking out in the face of injustice.

Very correct dear. I can not see the reason for right to privacy when I don't have my freedom of speech.
Thanks for sharing.

This is a really tough nut to crack. Both are equally important and having to choose one is just hard. Because no matter how you look at it, you'll be losing something great. I guess it all boils down to what you're willing to lose out on.

Exactly! The willingness to bear with losing out on one but we hope it doesn't come to that 😅

You have literally said it all, imagine there's no freedom of speech in our country even with the freedom of speech they are still doing us anyhow, privacy is good but freedom of speech is the best anyone can go for, nice Post.

Well, there are more advantages in choosing Freedom of speech over Right to privacy and so, that's a wise decision though I wish it wasn't a choice for both are important. Having the right to speak and express one's self in anyway is one way to keep the mind healthy which is important.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Merit and good to see you again.

Yeah, I also wish we wouldn't get to the stage of choosing between the two.

Without freedom of speech, I see my existence as not worthwhile. Right to privacy? It's important too but not as important as freedom of speech.

Valid points dear, I would rather have my right to freedom of speech. We all have to stand up for ourselves someday

And I was thinking that freedom to privacy was the best but you have changed my mind on that with this writeup. Well, I am very good with my words too and I think i can do a lot of things to other people if it is hidden well and they dont have the right to pry into my privacy. I can be quiet and still rule.

I agree with you. Christianity is a transparent life, no secret life. The right to freedom of speech will allow the gospel to move faster and spread to the world to hear the word of salvation.

I think I will remain in the line of right to privacy, perhaps I am a woman of few words and can't risk my privacy for for free speech.

Although, You have made great points which also counts.

For me, I would rather keep my privacy and throw away freedom of speech because I'm done talking to much and explaining issues that will eventually be complicated at the end. We are now in a world where our voice doesn't count so why waste the energy in talking too much and trying to make a point.

In Mohbad's death, it's a vivid example and now we know that this country is no longer a democratic nation. We lost power and law! My voice doesn't count it only counts within my space. You proved quite ypur points though and the fact that you dislike being silenced makes it beautiful. #dreemerforlife

It's sad when we think of where we've gotten to in this country and you're right about having a say in your own space, that's a good choice too.

Yeah just a speech could become someone's salvation, it's mostly better to speak up than to hid inside, speaking won't just help the person speaking but others who are passing through that situation have gotten a stepping stone
