No Monster Can Hide In This Ruleset | Splinterlands #359
This week's battle mage secrets focuses on the Fog of War Ruleset.
Ruleset Details
The Fog of War does exactly what it says on the cover by disabling Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity abilities. Now all those melee monsters that could attack from the backline (e.g. Sand Worm) cannot in the Fog of War ruleset battles. Mastering the Fog of War ruleset necessitates an understanding of defensive strategies. Strengthening the frontline becomes essential by prioritizing units with abilities like Shield or Void abilities to withstand enemy attacks. Placing these defenders strategically in the second rows enhances defences and acts as a defensive barrier for the backline monsters. Additionally utilizing counter abilities such as Return Fire and Magic Reflect provides opportunities to reflect damage to the opposition.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
I love this battle featuring the Fog of War ruleset. I had my favorite summoner and tank combo -- Lord Arianthus and Alric Stormbringer. Also, had the backline duo of Djinn Oshannus and Ruler of the Seas providing the key magic damage in battle. Lord Arianthus showed why he is still the king, with the Magic Reflect ability causing two of the opposition's monsters to perish in the first round. Mermaid Healer and Merdaalia Guardian did what they needed to do and provided healing and armor buffs, and the battle was wrapped up in less than three rounds.
Do You Like the Fog of War Ruleset? Why or Why Not?
I love melee monsters and those that can attack from the backline due to Sneak, and Opportunity -- I love them even more. Have you seen a battle where you have a Sandworm doing 6 melee damage and it has had its health boosted due to the Equalizer ruleset? These moments can't be beat, and therefore when you have Fog of War that disables these abilities -- I am sad. But as you know, you must deal with these intricacies that the ruleset delivers in each battle. While not having access to those abilities -- at least you still have access to those monsters with those abilities disabled. When you embrace the Fog of War ruleset, it provides other abilities to step up such as Reach and Blast on the attacking front. Always something to learn in the splinterlands verse!
