Daria Dragonscale - The Hero of the Gloridax | Splinterlands #405
At six feet five inches tall towering over most men in the splinterlands universe - Daria Dragonscale is an intimidating presence. Her golden armor, fiery determination, and piercing glare, and it's no wonder she commands both respect and fear across Praetoria. However, behind this strong exterior lies a woman at odds with her lineage, and her place in the splinterlands society. This is the untold story of Daria Dragonscale.
The Weight of the Dragonsguard
As the youngest female Captain in the history of the Dragonsguard, Daria bears a heavy burden. She didn't become a captain for the prestige or the wealth - it was duty and ambition that drove her. For Daria, the title is a double-edged sword. Her appointment is both a testament to her skill but also a constant reminder of the expectations placed upon her by her once disgraced mentor -- Gloridax Guardian.
Daria's Legacy
Daria's lineage is a complicated one. Her family, the Krysos clan, has a reputation steeped in treachery and brutality. Over a thousand years ago, the Krysos Dragons lost their scales and wings, and earning the scorn of the dragons. Daria's great-great grandfather choose the name Dragonscale to distance themselves from their tarnished name, but the stigma still persists to this day.
Despite her past, Daria carries the Fire Blood, an ability that makes her a strong warrior with the strength of the Gloridax coursing through her veins. This ability fuels her but also gives a violent temper which isolates her from others.
Daria's Feather
Despite her strength, Daria's life is a lonely one. Her only companion being her sword -- Feather. She discovered Feather while finishing a raid in the Smouldering Forest. When she set her eyes upon it, she knew it no common sword -- there was something special about it and it had a mysterious power calling to her when she picked it up. While the name Feather, doesn't strike terror into enemies' hearts, the blade has seen a fair share of bloodshed. The discovery of Feather still lives rent free in her head to this day and bloodshed of the raid where upon she discovered Feather still bothers her. Is she fighting for justice or merely enforcing the will of a corrupt dictator?
Even amongst her peers in the Dragonsguard, Daria struggles to find companionship and friendships. She's had more conversations with the criminals and monsters she's locked in the dungeon than her peers in the Dragonsguard. These hardened criminals and monsters provide a raw honesty she's not accustomed to in the dragonguards, and she finds solace in that.
The Future of Daria Dragonscale?
When Daria ponders her future and seeks to find purpose -- she does it by the Cliffs of Solace, where the oceans meet the sky. Standing on the edge of the cliff is an exhilarating and terrifying experience, but for those moments she is free -- free from expectations, free from duty, free from her legacy.
Many a moment while standing on the edge of the cliffs, she has dreamt of change. She envisages a Gloridax society being a power contributor the splinterlands ecosystem and wielding this power responsibly where partnerships and guilds are built on trust rather than fear and killings.
Daria stands at a crossroads. The whisper of a rebellion continues to get louder, and she knows the consequences of defying her superiors. The Feather lately has felt heavier in her hand these days, as if it's telling her to make a decision which could change the destiny of Gloridax, Dragonsguard and entire Praetoria.

Concluding Thoughts
I for one love exploring lore and I have previously participated in the lore challenge a few months ago when I wrote about Lord Arianthus. I used the same methodology in this post as I did in the Lord Arianthus's post. I used the Game Unfolding Machine tools to create this post which I use constantly in my solo RPG games at home.
