Eiona Doctor’s Visit then Roti Canai

This afternoon, the song Gerimis Mengundang by Slam popped into my head. It was sunny in the morning, but suddenly, it started raining heavily in the afternoon. The weather has been unpredictable, which can affect our health. Eiona, who hadn’t been feeling well since yesterday, had a cold and fever. We left her at her grandmother’s (my mom) house while we went to school. After school, we picked her up and took her to Dr. Tracy’s Clinic in Pekan Ranau. Luckily, her fever only started showing when we got to her grandmother’s house. She still had an appetite and was active, likely holding on until we arrived. Once we got there, she started feeling feverish and weak. The doctor said it was just a cold and nothing to worry about. After taking her medicine, she should get better soon.

By the time we were done, it was late afternoon. We stopped at Restauran Tempayan, the kids’ favorite spot for roti canai. Eiona, who had taken her medicine earlier, looked much better. She even ordered white rice with chicken curry, though she couldn’t finish it. I was just glad she had some appetite. Rex and Rez ordered roti canai, my wife had meehoon soup, and I went for tom yam beef and extra roti canai. We ate until we were full so we wouldn’t need to cook dinner later since it was already quite late. The food there was delicious. Initially, I planned to eat elsewhere, but Rex insisted on coming here, so I gave in to the kids’ choice. I can eat anything, after all!

When we were heading back to the car, Eiona noticed a yellow box. I’m not sure what it’s called, but it had transparent plastic eggs filled with small toys. You put in some money, turn the knob, and an egg comes out from the bottom. It’s a bit of a surprise which toy you’ll get. Eiona was really interested and asked me to get one for her. I didn’t say no. I hoped it would make her happy, and that feeling might help her recover. It wasn’t expensive, just 50 cents per egg, she get 3. I haven’t opened the egg yet, I forgot to check what was inside.

After eating, we were all stuffed, but getting home was a challenge. The traffic in town was terrible with so many cars on the road in the evening. Stopping to refuel at the gas station added to the delay since it was crowded too. We only got home at night. Thankfully, we didn’t need to cook, which lightened the load a bit, though there was still cleaning to do. As soon as we got home, I got busy cleaning and tidying up the house. After taking their baths, Rex and Rez sat in front of the TV playing PS5 games. Today is the second day without treated water supply. Usually, water supply disruptions happen because of prolonged rain that causes flooding and damages the water treatment plants. This happens quite often. I'm very thankful that we now have a gravity-fed water supply. I used to join community efforts to install these pipes back then.
