An Unexpected Grateful Day

While driving to work with my kids on the way to school, I suddenly heard a cat meowing from the car’s engine compartment. Oh no! Without wasting time, I slowed down and pulled over to the side of the road. When I opened the hood, there was a kitten inside!

Even though I’m its owner and feed it every day, the tiny kitten was still cautious and didn’t want me to pick it up. It even growled, clearly unhappy with being touched or approached. I spent about 10 minutes coaxing it, and finally, it stopped running around when I reached out my hand. It let me pick it up. I had no choice but to make a U-turn and return home, thankfully, it wasn’t far! I’m also grateful that I didn’t have the radio on like I usually do while driving. If I hadn’t heard the kitten, who knows what could have happened. Although I arrived at work a bit late, I’m so thankful the kitten was safe.

After work and school, I took scissors and trimmed my sons Rex and Rez’s hair, which had grown quite thick. Although I’m not a professional, I managed to give them neat haircuts. It saves money compared to visiting a barber. As I finished cutting their hair, heavy rain began to pour. The signs had been there; dark clouds and rain in the distance. Typically, with clouds and wind like that, the rain would reach our area soon, and it did.

I used the rain as a chance to clean the garage where we feed our pets. Just as I finished cleaning, the rain stopped, and the sky cleared up! Nature is amazing. One moment it was pouring, the next it was bright again. I hope I don’t get sick from being caught in the rain since I still have work to do. I even managed to snap some photos of our flowers and plants near the garage.

I headed to the vegetable beds I prepared last weekend. I covered all three with plastic to stop weeds from growing before we plant vegetables this Saturday. If left uncovered, weeds would grow quickly, and I want to avoid that.

After covering the beds, I moved to the backyard to prepare frame made of plastik raffia string for climbing vegetables. The pipes I set up before were ready, and I just added raffia string for the plants to hold to. That’s done too!

Lomu and Kokot, our male dogs, finally came home together after being away for almost a week during the mating season. Kokot looked skinny, probably from not eating much. I hope the nearby dog owners offered them something to eat, as I do when other dogs wander into our area. Kokot and Lomu ate before Kokot left again. Hopefully, he’ll come back tonight, as food is waiting in his usual spot.

While feeding the cats, I noticed Putih (our white cat) holding a bird in its mouth. It then started playing with the fresh bird dead body. I think the bird might have been stranded during the rain earlier. After the rain stopped, I saw Putih roaming around like it was hunting. That’s probably when it caught the bird.
