Freelancing & Food Hunting

One thing that I love most about my job is being a freelance singer. I am not attached to any contract and I can perform and travel to such places in a short period of time. If I had to choose a place for me to be stress-free and have a holiday while at work, I would choose the Federal Territory of Labuan.

There are only two ways to get to this duty-free island. ferryboat, plane. There are no bridges connecting the island with the mainland beyond. So, for public holidays such as Eid, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, or Christmas, on average, all tickets are sold out 2 weeks before.

The same goes for elections. It's going to be this November. Return tickets are also sold out. We barely got a ticket out of Labuan in a few days. Let's see how the first experience of a holiday outing in the election season goes.

Labuan Island was originally part of the Sultanate of Brunei. In 1846, it was handed over to the British after they used the uninhabited island as a site of operations against pirates. Later in 1946, it was merged with North Borneo. Subsequently in 1963 he together with Sabah merged into Malaysia.

The word 'Labuan' comes from the word 'port'. During the British occupation, it was known as' Victoria Island '.
Federal Territory Labuan is Malaysia's second Federal Territory. It covers the entire island of Labuan which has an area of 91.64 km2.

Labuan Island is located about 10 km from Sabah beach, 2 1/2 hours flight from Kuala Lumpur, half an hour from Kota Kinabalu and about 30 km from Brunei beach. Labuan Island has been declared an offshore financial centre in 1990 and a tax-free port since 1956.

Labuan Point Hotel

The room was simple but cosy. Breakfast at the rooftop cafe was delicious. There was a supermarket on the ground floor, which was convenient if you needed to buy groceries for the evening.

The best hotel I've ever stayed in, and definitely worth the money. Management has been extremely attentive and accommodating to our convoy. The rooms are also extremely comfortable and well-appointed.

Sky Bar, Hotel Labuan Point.
Had a very good atmosphere, very cool and windy. The food is delicious. The sky bar is open from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., with the only drawback being a poor internet/Wifi connection. But who needs one with this view?

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all available on the top floor with a marvellous view of Labuan. Overall, Hotel Labuan Point has been doing a great job.

Sky Park Ujana Kewangan

All chocolate lovers will be in heaven. And those who drink and smoke have a variety of options, but with limited purchasing power. This location is also appealing for unique perfume collections.

Ujana Kewangan, one of Labuan's most well-known shopping malls. There are a few more Sky Park Duty Free locations in Labuan territory, but this is my personal favourite.

I guess I spend the majority of my time here on food. I enjoy eating and consider myself a foodie. While I'm here, here are some photos of my food collections.

Labuan is an Island that ideal setting for me to socialize with friends while working. I absolutely love my job. I genuinely love travelling.

But I cherish my children and my hometown even more. I suppose COVID-19 has altered my perspective on being apart from my family and children.

I suppose my fun is over, and now that I need to get home to be with my family, I might have time to write.
