Last weekend, Chicago's beautiful lakefront was filled with people who were there to be entertained by the Air & Water Show. It is a popular free event held each summer since 1959, and attracts millions of people.

Looking off toward the city skyline you can see the haze in the air from the smoke that is drifting down from the Canadian wildfires.

It is a fun opportunity for anyone who enjoys taking photos, as my family does, and I can't resist sharing a few more pictures from the event.

I know nothing about flying a plane, but it is easy to appreciate the skill at maneuvering these aircraft that these pilots have.

Great photos. I like the old planes the P51 Mustang and the F4U Corsair. I used to really geek out on WWII planes 🙂

I'm impressed. I would have no idea what kind of planes these are or if they were built yesterday or 50 years ago! But then I'm rather the same way with cars!

It is relaxing to see the birds flying but seeing the planes flying at supersonic speed in the sky gives goosebumps. amazing captured

I'd much rather watch the birds, but seeing air show is fun because it is such a spectacle. How nice to see a comment from you. It's been a while since I have bumped into you!

You are absolutely right, they work very hard to learn the aircraft first and then show it to the public in such a beautiful way that it is very happy to see.

Planes are always a big hit in Vancouver. We have the annual Abbotsford Air show annualy at my corner of the continent.
