World Mappin, Hive’s Travel Blog
World Mappin, Hive’s Travel Blog
Goooood morning everyone today’s dose of crypto currency news focuses on the Hive blockchain and a wonderful local project where you can get paid to travel the world, @worldmappin
In mid June 2024 the former Pinmapple service on the Hive blockchain announced its closure, marking the end of an era for many travel bloggers who had utilised the platform to pin their posts on a map. However, this closure was not the end but a transition to a new beginning. Enter Worldmappin, a rebranded and revitalized version of Pinmapple designed to continue and expand upon the original project's legacy.
What is WorldMappin?
Worldmappin is an innovative platform where bloggers on Hive can pin their posts to a global map sharing iconic places or even day trips which can be seen here. This makes it an essential tool for travel bloggers to share their experiences visually and interactively. Essentially, it’s a rebirth of Pinmapple, which was discontinued by its former management in late May to mid-June 2024. The transition to Worldmappin involves a new team that includes both new members and some of the original team members.
The mission of Worldmappin is to maintain the well known services of Pinmapple while adding new features and improvements to enhance user experience. The new management is committed to ensuring the project's continuity and growth, preserving the community's valuable curation support and maintaining the active Discord community albeit under a new name.
The Transition Plan
The transition to Worldmappin is structured in three phases: Transfer, Maintain, and Develop.
Phase 1 - Transfer
The initial phase focuses on transferring the existing infrastructure to the new team. This involves purchasing and organising servers, domains, subdomains and necessary licenses. The existing codebase needs to be reviewed, updated and transferred to new servers and backup machines. The operation team will also implement and test security measures and monitoring tools.
During this phase, the new team will start curating content for the community. The @worldmappin account will be grown with the help of the community through delegations to enhance the voting power for quality posts. This ensures that the transition is smooth and that the core functionalities of the platform remain uninterrupted.
Phase 2 - Maintain
Once the transfer is complete, the focus shifts to maintaining the system. The curation team will expand to include more members who will manage posts and ensure quality control. The Discord community will also receive more activities, features, structure, and continuous information to keep users engaged and informed.
Phase 3 - Develop
In the final phase, Worldmappin aims to elevate its services to new heights. The team plans to introduce more functionality and support for communities, groups, and various topics. Ideas gathered during the first two phases will be implemented, and the development team will be expanded to roll out new features. One of the exciting developments on the horizon is a mobile Worldmappin app, which will make "mappin" even more accessible and convenient for users on the go.
WorldMappin History and How it Started
Pinmapple was first launched in August 2017 with @detlev being one of the first ten users to pin a post. Over the years, more than 100,000 pins were added to the database by numerous Hive users. When the project’s discontinuation was announced it took only a second for the new team to decide to keep it alive, ensuring that the valuable community and its contributions were not lost.
The New Team
The fresh team of Hivians behind Worldmappin includes a mix of experienced and new members. Key roles are filled by:
Curation: @lizanomadsoul (lead), @ybanezkim26, and others
Community: @lizanomadsoul, @godfish, and others
Communication/Moderation: @louis88, @godfish, @rivalzzz, and others
Graphic Design: @louis88 and others
Development: @masterswatch (and brothers), @louis88 (as bug-hunter)
Operations: Team around @detlev
Management: @detlev
The team put out a special thanks and acknowledgment to the old team consisting of @martibis, who created the project in 2017 and @livinguktaiwan and @choogirl for their significant contributions.
How Can You Help?
You can support Worldmappin by delegating to the @worldmappin account. This support will help grow the curation efforts and maintain the high quality of content on the platform.
Worldmappin represents the evolution of Pinmapple ensuring that the Hive travel blogging community continues to thrive. With a structured plan for transfer, maintenance and development. The new team is committed to not only preserving but also enhancing the platform. Through community support and continuous innovation, Worldmappin is set to carry on Pinmapple's legacy and take it to new heights.
In my opinion this is one of the best ideas on the Hive blockchain and with the right amount of support we can attract new users just through this project alone as influencers on holidays and promoting destinations is huge on mainstream media.

This project is a very amazing one
I’ve been here for years and I got to know what Worldmappin means two weeks ago and I shared a post too
It’s a very amazing community and I hope to do more in the community
Yes it's amazing I used to regularly upgrade things
Thanks for spreding the word!
I love this project and I have delegated to the account. I will commence posting on it again!
Looking forward to it! :)
Honestly, I'm still trying to figure it out. I used to write regularly on Pinmapple. When I went to the website to generate the code, the location I was looking for would automatically appear on the map. I woke up one morning and Pinmapple wasn't there. I thought of it as a name change. But I'm still having trouble getting the code when creating a post. I thought of sharing my posts without marking them on the map. Is this a wrong decision?
It's a new website I have it in the article here works the same and it is awesome all the previous posts have migrated over
Thanks for sharing this with me.
