Family Fun Time
Families can be a lot of work especially when we have so much on in regards to work, paying bills and trying to get a head in life. As many of you might be aware by now I am in the process of shedding a lot of body fat in preparation for a body building competition I have coming up in october.
I am also in the process of starting my own health, wellbeing and sports nutrition business that has been eating a lot of my additional time and effort. It's put me offside my kids a few times, although little miss is fully aware that it is to make some cash which she is learning she needs. It still means the little ones miss out. So today we took some time out and I asked little miss what she would like to do after school.
Little miss's request was to eat dinner at a restuarant. My heart sunk because as anyone with young kids knows, eating at a resturant with kids is no easy task. There is lots of screaming, slow eating, jumping up and down while trying to eat. Also that I am trying to maintain a stickt calorie deficit and low cal foods. Something many restuarants don't really cater for. After all their in the food business and they want you to come back. So that means resturants often cook meals with heavy cream, butter and fats.
Sure we could opt for a salad but I'm not one to spend $40 on some grass. So we headed off to Cafe Grecco which is a place we all realy enjoy and the benefit here for me is that the food is all grilled. This helps reduce the fat ratio and while I totally exceeded my calorie intake for the day atleast the nutrients and protein is high.
I may have broken that diet for the first time in 3 months and eaten sugar as little miss and little bloke wanted churros on the way out. While I had only planned to have a coffee, there were 2 Churros left that no one wanted to eat and I wasn't up for wasting money so decided to eat them.
Now, I am not sure how to say this. But it is true. Sugar really is like cocaine. I haven't had sugar other than what is naturally occuring in foods for three months. We all know sugar tastes good. But, hear me out here. If you want to be blown away by sugar don't have it for 3 months than smash a doughnut or a churro with chocolate. Not only does it taste like heaven but I swear right now I am stoned. I have a massive insulin high as I write this as I only just ate them about an hr ago. I legit feel stoned right now.
A food comma I have never endured like this before. It's going to take me an entire week to get through what i ate today but I am 9 weeks out from comp day and it just means I will need to go a little harder with my training this week which I can do. Tonight is also the first night I have had off from training in 3 months. They say we need rest days but I don't think it's true. Our ancestors didn't have rest days. Especially when they were being chased down by lions and other preditors. Life doesn't stop, neither should you!
