Worries of Parents

Worries of Parents

Parenting has been one of the best moments of my life but also one of the hardest with lots of new periods of growth that often get me to question myself and my own world views simply based on a question raised by my little humans.

I sometimes find it hard to believe that my children and it will be the same for many others look up to us as parents, as if we know everything and have a solution to all the problems faced. Little miss asked me the other day how come I am never scared?

I had to pause for a moment and I had to ask her why she thought I was never scared because, that is totally not the truth as I am quite the anxious person with quite a lot of fears in my life.

She informed me that she often watches me and sees how I handle situations, when she experiences fear or is in a situation that might be scary she doesn't see me experiencing fear but rather going to fight (obviously not physical).

It dawned on me that little miss was getting older and more aware of her surroundings and what was occurring in our immediate life as over the past few years there have been significant barriers and issues arising with builders, lawyers and a whole range of things.

And yes, people have tried to intimidate and use bullying tactics however, I am born and bread working class background and bullying and intimidation tactics don't phase me all that much.

I do know that my wife has a different feeling towards the actions as she will come home and inform me of things people have done to which my response typically is "oh yeah, they did that?' "Tell em to go get #$%^ed" and come see me".

I guess I need to be a bit more conscious of what I am saying around the kids.

I do get scared

But the truth of the matter is that I do, in fact get scared and worried about the future. I am always over thinking things and planning a head in order to get our family in the best possible position with the best possible outcome.

I haven't always been like this and to be honest in the past I was less focused on tomorrow and just didn't care. Ever since becoming a parent I have been a lot more focused on tomorrow.

And it is hard, sometimes I just want to quit and crawl up into a ball and not face the world. But I know if I do that, I am not the one that gets impacted by it and it's the kids that will suffer the most.

I think the above quote captures how parents feel really well and although the focus is more on boxing every parent knows that parenting and child raising is quite the long rounded battle that doesn't end.

Each day is a new barrier with new issues and the primary focus is sustaining your child or children's future no matter the cost and it requires getting up and keeping going even if you can't. Because the moment you stop, you might fail.

Lol! Little miss wasn't wrong asking you that question because probably you are a parent and a parent is not supposed to be scared in front of the kids. But hell yes, parents get scared too

I think I should say that little miss is quite inquisitive and that’s how a smart child should be
Anyway, I’m quite scared of parenting now because nurturing a child is not something easy
