Down by the River

Things are really heating up here in Australia as summer kicks in and while it was a slow start with heavy rains the wettest in a long time the clouds are now gone and the sun is beaming its radiant rays on us.

The best thing about being in Australia is that we're a large continent which means a lot more water and beautiful rivers that flow close by. Not far from where we reside is the Lerdederg Gorge and a great simming hole called MacKenzies Flat. Unlike swimming in an ocean I prefer rivers where the fresh water provides a more calming and cooling experience with quite often better backdrops and more activities such as hiking and open fields of grass to play and have picnics on.

ALthough river swimming isn't as easy as an ocean as the river bed often is made up of river rocks although MacKenzies flat is a little smoother and gets a lot of traffic so the ground is smoother to walk on. But to be safe you're better off bringing some good thongs that won't fall off while walking around.
