Letting go. Goodbye GRL!
More than a week ago we said goodbye to our first family car. We were a bit emotional. We bid farewell to our more than 8 years travel companion.
Let me give you a little history. During the first few years of our married life, we only got our motorcycle as our vehicle. It served as well until we had children. Before our third daughter was born, we purchased our neighbor's extra car, a Kia Pride. It was an old model but it is just right for our small family. To cut a long story short, 8 years have passed, GRL (this is how we call it) has served our family well. We had great memories with it as our girls were growing up.
But the time came when we needed an upgrade. (though I thought it was not that necessary 😀) But my husband insisted we upgrade for more comfort and convenience while traveling. I cannot complain more since he is the only driver in the family. LoL
It was a blessing in disguise that my husband found a car that was a good buy. Now we need to let go of GRL and embrace the new vehicle already in our possession.
It was quite a struggle emotionally because the children would not allow us to sell it. Which I understand because GRL was our travel companion ever since they were little. But then again, we need to let go and let the new owner take care of GRL. Besides we don't have enough space for parking for two cars. Car maintenance is doubled if we will retain it.
Saying Goodbye
My husband found a buyer for GRL. So for the last time, we drove to church two Sundays ago using GRL. We were emotional. I was emotional. Great family memories were made with GRL.
After church service, the buyer came and looked at the car. He was interested in buying it and after checking, payment was made and they drove GRL to north of Cebu.
Last thoughts...
You know that feeling when you get attached to something? When it is gone and your mind comes across a happy memory with it, tears fall voluntarily and you feel empty. This may sound OA, but that is how I felt in the first few days after we sold GRL. Eventually, it has sunk into our minds and hearts that it is time to let go and move forward. We will cherish the memories with our first family car and it is time to create new ones.
See you on the road GRL. We will miss you.
Thank you for reading this far.
xoxo,
Met

I am sentimental so it was hard for me to let go of my everything
So yeah I know the feeling
My children and I were hoping we could keep it but it was not the best thing to do. So we have to let go.
