Why Do I Play Splinterlands?

Its been years since I started playing Splinterlands and through that time I have grown accustom to mostly play daily. As of now I am not as consistent because I do not put in all my daily matches but I still play daily and keep tabs in the game's news. What motivates me to do this you may ask? Well there are multiple reasons but I'll go to the biggest reasons.

Profits

Through the years Splinterlands has transition from play to earn to now pretty much pay to earn. The whole game has shifted were products have risen in cost but for good reason. The game is entertaining after all. So everyday if I consistently play will mean I am earning just for participating. How can i give up on that?

I admit I am at a very lucky position having played the game when it was mainly play to earn. Yet even now to this day it feels like that to me and is that way for me because I was an early adopter. I am still ripping the rewards that I sowed so many years back. The long nights battling and saving rewards to reinvest and build a small but decent card collection.

Entertainment

Some say this is an investment while others see it as a game. To me it is a mix of both. The time I spent in the game should be worth something and Splinterlands was a game that allowed me to earn through playing. Not may games can offer both real rewards and entertainment.

What Now?

In the past couple of days I have seen a lot of passionate discussions regarding the game and latest updates. Whether it be for the changes or against them players have all come out with their opinions which I think is great. The game has a DAO that allows all to participate in choosing what the futures holds for Splinterlands.

I would be lying if I did not feel somewhat anxious or disappointed to see what is to come for the game as I have spent countless hours playing and posting about Splinterlands. Seeing the token prices DEC and SPS continue to fall does not help. Yet I lean more towards the positives of what is to come. The potential and consistency the game has delivered in entertainment and rewards are unmatched.

I play because I love the joy of earning while I play. Not many things in life can we say that.
