The Continuous Promos…
Promo cards are not what they were use to be. As the first of what is to be multiple promotions there seems to be a common theme. Spend as much as you can to earn as much as you can.
Nearly 60 million DEC/Credits have been spent on current promo and which is pretty amazing in itself. After all these years there is still demand. Yet the willingness to continue purchasing cards for the sake to earning more is not what this game started out as.
In fact I remember the days where cards were cheap and people giving them free to little value in exchange. There were a lot of focus on playing and playing many hours of to earn more cards. The play to earn was what I thing the foundation of making the game so appealing.
Through the years the game philosophy seems to have changed. Now the experience is to spend more to earn. On top of that what we earn continues to trend down for years. Trend is not our friend.
I end by pleading my case that we have to find alternative ways to hype up play to earn instead of spend to earn. Of course there is a fine line to be drawn here where makers of the game needs to find ends meet. However I had expected web3 to be able to fairly compensate all those who share ownership in the game. Players who already pay for cards and only to later get their assets devalued is not a fair way of distributing the proceeds.
I am playing less and less by the day. A fellow believer in this game still but my belief that The whole ecosystem can thrive in the future is getting hazier by the day. Do I really can play only if I anticipate to continue spending?
Until next time thanks for reading!!!
I have plenty of other cards for rent! Just go on peakmonsters and check out the market place and if you are curious what I offer here is a link:
Unfortunately, the summary of the current situation is "spend more to earn less".
It’s not a good trend to be on.

It's tough but Splinterlands had to request DHF funding. So I think they are probably still struggling. I have stopped spending in Splinterlands and I agree that things are way more expensive compared to the past. It makes me wonder where things will go.
Definitely not trending well. Maybe we are near a bottom.
