SPS Latest News (Today's Town Hall)

avatar

Big news was announced in today's Town Hall and I think over an hour discussion was on one specific topic. The major focus was on the future update of staking SPS.

As of now staking SPS mainly earned players more SPS and vouchers. Another function is to allow players to qualify in tournaments based on staked amount of SPS. Matt when in depth discussion with Aggroed and Aggroed bring on the questions.

What I can summarize is that Matt is emphasized the update was planned but it took over two years to achieve. Matt explained that in the near future staked SPS would supersede the Collection Power. This means players will require to staking SPS to earn more in lieu of owning enough cards to have a specific collection power. In summary Matt emphasized entire goal of staking SPS was for this purpose.

For instance I am focusing on holding over 200k CP in order to keep playing Gold I. My monster cards are not enough to get me over diamond league on a steady basis. However with the new update coming out it will mean I need to stake more SPS.

Matt was saying staked SPS will go in a range for earning more rewards per league. That means players can play up to which league they feel comfortable even if they do not have enough CP or enough SPS staked. On the flip side the more SPS staked the more daily rewards they can earn.

Bottom line this appears to be a positive step forward for the game. The fact that we don't rely on collection power and more on SPS staked will make players to buy and hold more SPS. Meanwhile cards will remain important in order to earn more rewards from rank battles. Like Matt said the game is not designed to be a free to play game. There needs to be an investment into the game in order to earn a profit. It takes money to make money. Or better yet have skin in the game.

Until next time thanks for reading!!!

Thanks for the chart. Still trying to figure out how I'm feeling about it.

After watching the latest Townhall it was clear how Splinterlands was focused on the positives for having SPS staked being a rating for earning more in lieu of what we are use to in collection power. I admit any time things change it is sometimes difficult to adopt but eventually will get use to it. I can't predict the future well but from past experience the decisions Splinterlands has made it has come out for the better. I am going to give them a benefit of a doubt here on this and see it through. !WINE !LOL

I think this might work out better for me and thanks for the chart. I have been staying in Silver for now because I don't want to end the season in Gold but the SPS requirement will help out. At least it's better than trying to sort out all my collection power to minimize the highest rank I can get.

Don’t know if I am repeating but good to mention Matt made that chart to show range of SPS required to earn same amount of rewards as if players had the current amount of collection power. So technically even if a player doesn’t hold enough sps they can still play at higher league if they get higher rating. Bottom line how much sps you staked won’t effect game play at all but only on how much rewards you can earn. Initial thought is I like it since it’s not limiting gameplay but allows true believers of the game a way to long term invest in it.

That's a nice implementation, it will encourage users to buy more SPS to get more SPS as a reward ;

As we are seeing now that the market conditions are bad and the prices of such coins have fallen, it is the best opportunity to buy and hold it. The benefit of this will be that they will start getting more of the rewards they have.
