Splinterlands - Runi's Bonuses in Land Expansion

It is pretty obvious now how important it is to own Runi if players also owns lands. So far with Land 1.5 we have learned that Runi cards are providing a lot of bonuses. Today we list those out and predict what the future holds for Runi.

In total 3,521 Runi ever minted in the game. I admit I did not participate in the minting process nor do I currently hold any Runi cards. This may or may not be a a bad choice, but for now I lean more towards it being a bad choice and I list the reasons.

During minting each Runi would cost:

At 0.38 ETH during late 2022 was some where $500. With ETH almost double in price since it is now worth closer to $900. Furthermore the floor price for a Runi on OpenSea is 0.42 ETH.

Even with all the interest in land plots over the years the demand for Runi is not so much. With only 1,394 accounts holding 1 or more Runi it is less than one percent of just the active users in the game, and let alone an even lower percentage if we account all the Splinterlands accounts ever created.

Runi Bonuses

Those who own Runi cards can currently stake them to play in game on Splinterlands. I have seen the card in action a few times, and not once did I remember I beaten formations that had a Runi card in the formation.

Beyond the current ability to use the card in battles there is also the rarity of the card. Like many Splinterlands cards there are associated attributes and stats on each Runi which makes them good collector items similar to any of the other limited printed cards.

Runi In Land 1.5

It was not a surprise to me how much a Runi will provide for bonuses for players who stake them with their lands. We have heard prior to the Land 1.5 white paper from Splinterlands was that Runi cards are going to be held with a lot incentives. Those incentives are as follows:

Power Source - Using Runi in land plot equates to a power source. All lands require power source to operate and for those who do not have a Runi it will cost 5k DEC to operate each land plot.

Each Runi is automatically counted as max level legendary regular foil card. This is pretty reasonable value in terms of level and rarity of the card considering less than $1k each.

Production Boost - 100% boost in production points makes Runi cards valuable in terms of its use in land expansion.

Increase Odds of earning Totem Fragments. - When working on the land plot the end results are earning rewards such as spell cards, SPS, and Totem Fragments. The odds to pull in better rewards automatically increases for players who have Runi staked in their land plots.

Conclusions

There is not much to be disappointed if a player currently is holding one or more Runi. There is clear benefits of holding and using the Runi cards. From power boost to a 1 bcx card automatically counted as max legendary level monster. The Runi cards can even be used as monsters for battles. All in all there are more uses for Runi cards which makes it ideal to own.
