Splinterlands - Reflecting On Reward Chests in Jan 2023

In less than 24 hours new rewards will be introduced. Today I look back at the current reward system and how it has evolved through the years.

Old Reward System

Over on Splintercards.com is an obsolete calculation for the value of a rewarded chest based on league. Although obsolete it remains the current type of rewards players can earn in a chest with percentage of specific rewards adjusted.

In any case currently players can earn SPS, Merits, Cards, packs, and potions in daily rewards. This is a very wide range of rewards but over the years it has always been multiple rewards.

What I really like with the potions is that each chest now has multiple potions pulled at higher leagues. In past when potions were apart of the reward system it was only one potion per chest.

The SPS rewards were in DEC not a year ago, and took a little getting use to. What I mean by getting use to is that the use of SPS lacks the need of DEC for purchase of goods and cards. In the end it has effected the earnings I got from rentals with SPS rewards instead of DEC.

Reward Cards

This is the bigger item that I am looking forward too. Over the years reward cards have been added in reward chests once existing cards hit max quantity of prints. Now we are approaching a set date for new reward cards even though existing ones have not hit their set max value. In any case we are arriving to a new period with new reward cards.

In the very beginning the reward chests had only cards as rewards. At the time I caught on playing the game it was close to a year since it started. For those who stood by the game since day one they would have definitely earned a lot from collecting all those cards. Heck I earned my only ever gold foil legendary during the time where cards were the only rewards.

Now we are ready for the new upcoming reward offerings. I can not wait to see how this all plays out and from past experiences it has been profitable for most players. I would lean cautiously optimism for this latest update. Let us rejoice and relish on what is to come.
