Splinterlands - End Of Season Tactics?

The clock is ticking as another season is near its end. With a little over a day left in the season I want to talk about what I do near the end of each season and curious how you guys play the last day of a season.

Rental Market

The first thing I do when its 2 to 3 days before season ends I would stop card rentals that seem to be low in prices. For instance any legend I am renting for under 1 DEC I would end it and reset it. The reason being I know demand for cards near end of season would be high due in part players are required to have a certain collection power (CP) in order to earn a specific league ranking.

In addition near end of season I know a lot of players tend to play a lot of matches in hopes to achieving an overall higher rank which would then provide them more end of season reward chests.

Sometimes I tend to get too busy to manually reset my rentals and adjust prices the following day, due in part there is 24 hour cool down from last person use, and forget to put back the cards for rent prior to end of season. So my preference is to adjust rentals three days prior to end of season.

Rank Battles

Like many other players I too tend to play more matches near the end of season than on a regular day. My reasoning behind this is a couple of reasons. First like many other players I have my eyes set on earning more end of season reward chests and knowing that end of season is close I tend to try to win more so to just get more chests right before season ends.

A bigger reason is that near the end of the season I feel matches tend to be easier to play. Although it maybe different in other leagues for silver and gold I have experienced that middle of the season to end of the season my competition is easier to beat than at the beginning of the season. One reason for this is the game reset's players to lower league at the beginning of each season. Therefore players who may not have played or played little but having full sets of cards ends up starting a new season at a lower league. At the beginning of every season the competition is fierce but as the days progress it gets easier and it holds true all the way to last day of the season.

Saving DEC/SPS

If you ever wonder when is a specifically good time to purchase cards in the open market I would say right after a season ends is a great time to buy reward cards. Often players at end of season sell their cards earned so to either pay for their rents or want to cash out a bit from the game. This is great for those who have saved their crypto to be looking at the vast amount of cards to goes on the open market for sale.

For instance I have seen in some end of seasons legendary reward cards going for under $0.80 per 1 bcx. That is a fire sale no matter which legendary is in the open markets.

Conclusions

I tend to have a process going for my way of playing Splinterlands near the end of season. I check my cards and adjust my rentals. Meanwhile continue playing to earn more and save my earnings to be ready to add cards to my collection. With the additional cards even if they are duplicates I would rent them out in the future to earn more DEC and it all goes into a snowball process each and every season.

Over time I have amassed a decent amount of cards and able to rent out for a reasonable amount of DEC. I have majority of my collection in reward cards, around 70% of my entire collection, and this process I have going at end of the season has worked well for me.
