Harvesting Potato 🍠🥔🍠 As At 5 Months After Planting. Some Of Farmers Setback In Farming. Bountiful Harvest Not Always Guaranteed.

Hello Hivers 💕💘,

Sometimes ago I made the post on how I planted the potato Vine inside the mobile sack which are two in number. Along the line I decided to harvest the first one a month ago which I saw few potatoes to harvest. And the reason been that they are was low rainfall as at that time which I also make all my efforts to ensure I added a lot of water so improve it growth and development which I did. And on the long run I saw few potato pieces to harvest which is also amazing. After some few weeks I also decided to get into the harvesting mode for this particular set of potato which I planted inside the sack this time around.

I took some pictures when I got to the section and slow at steady I decided to harvest the potato. It's also getting late because normally potato should be done within 5 months of planting. If the regular water supply is been done and checking of all the natural nutrients inclusive. When I got to the sack and the normal procedure proceeded.

  • This was where I planted the potato wine 5 months ago. Although there are some challenges that I faced such as low water supply. It is not that there was nothing like water supply in the first place but it's isn't enough. But nevertheless I did today harvesting so that I will rightly know what went wrong and how to deal with it next time.

The first thing I noticed before the harvest was that vine were already getting dried up. For anyone who is into potato farming or even yam tuber farming, you must have a definite sign that you see that we also prompt you to harvest. And the sign is when you notice the vine is already getting dried off it may also due to so many reasons.

Although there are still some vine that are not absolutely dried but to what I observed earlier before they harvesting begin. Divine that came out of the sack is becoming more dried up.

I first of all removed the leftover wine that I saw one after the other. Then I also removed the one attached to the sack. Something came into my mind because I did not want to destroy the sack so I bent it to poured away all the soil inside the sack as shown below.

  • When I started picking up with my hands, I saw just few to pick and harvest. It showed that there are more to takenote and there is more to be done to make sure that I have a bountiful harvest next time.

I also needed to trash this tomato Vine because they are much already on the farm so I needed to reduce the volume. That was why I trashed the ones I harvested.

I am going to use the soil for another planting of other crop as soon as possible with the mixture of organic manure.

This is how the sun looks like after so many months of planting. Initially I thought I was going to see more of potato tubers but yes this is what farmers face after planting of crops with low harvest sometimes. That is also why farming does not always guarantee a bountiful harvest.
