RE: Lady Elliot island on low tide.

For some reason I thought the tide would be high on one side while it's low on the other. When an island's that small though, you can see the tide rises everywhere at once.
You could anchor a pontoon on a long chain, with a deck chair and umbrella. Walk down at low tide with a rod and bait, and fish until the next low tide, then walk back with your haul.

I was snorkeling as the tide started to go out. The water was pushing through the reef so strong! At one point I started to panic a little as it started a rip in the water.

So many fish where jumping out of the water that got caught up in the smaller reef pockets to try and get into deeper water as the tide was going out.

A pontoon would be a great idea for fishing but the island is a green zone so no fishing allowed unfortunately.

For a long time, people have made tidal fish traps. They tend to follow walls; so get trapped in a love heart shape.
