Los aristogatos/The Aristocats (ES/EN)
A pesar de que pertenecía a grupos de rescate y publiqué que estaba buscando un gato, en ese momento no había adopciones disponibles. Así que decidí esperar. Pero ese mismo día, por la tarde, mientras yo no estaba en casa, una muchacha que me llevaba unos bombones se encontró un pequeño gato unas cuadras antes de mi casa. Al tocar la puerta y abrirle mi papá, ahí estaba ella con el pequeño gato que no sobrepasaba los dos meses de vida. En ese momento, mi mamá se lo arrebata de las manos y le da las gracias, afirmando que yo había puesto en los grupos de rescate que necesitaba una adopción. La muchacha responde contando la verdadera historia de cómo encontró al gato, pero que igual no podría quedárselo. así que finalmente, Muney paso a ser el primer gato de la casa, y su lugar favorito es encima del refrigerador vigilando toda la comida.
In my parents' house we have four cats. Although we never thought about having cats, since we were more into dogs, in childhood I did live with cats a little, as my grandmother had two. After moving, we adopted a dog named Masha. In the house we have a fairly large patio and, as a result, small mice started to live in it. My dog Masha paid no attention to them, but for us they represented a big problem. So, there was no other solution but to bring a cat home. At first, my dad wasn't very keen on the idea, but we knew there was no other option. The first to arrive was Muney, who came along with a very funny story.
Even though I was part of rescue groups and posted that I was looking for a cat, at that time there were no adoptions available. So I decided to wait. But that same day, in the afternoon while I was not at home, a girl who was bringing me some chocolates found a small cat a few blocks before my house. When she knocked on the door and my dad opened it, there she was with the little cat that was not even two months old. At that moment, my mom snatched it from her hands and thanked her, affirming that I had posted in the rescue groups that I needed an adoption. The girl responded by telling the true story of how she found the cat, but that she couldn't keep it. So finally, Muney became the first cat of the house, and his favorite spot is on top of the refrigerator watching over all the food.
Then came Miney, who was abandoned under the pretext that she would be picked up later and that during the time we had her, she would be well taken care of because since we already had one, it was obvious that we liked cats. When they came back to see her, the cat tried to escape and seemed stressed; God knows how many ways they mistreated her to get that reaction. That's why my mom refused to return her, and Miney became the second cat in the house, who enjoys sleeping curled up.
El tercero fue Pancho, que es casi idéntico a Money, salvo que es más viejo. Al principio no los distinguíamos mucho, ya que la mayoría de las veces no estaban los dos en el mismo lugar. Hasta un día en el que nos dimos cuenta de que estábamos viendo a los gatos diferentes. Pancho no se dejaba tocar, pues al parecer era un gato maltratado al que ningún otro hogar le brindó calor y comida. Poco a poco le fuimos mostrando que nuestra intención no era hacerle daño, sino alimentarlo y cuidarlo como a otro más de la casa. Pasados unos meses, empezó a tener confianza y hoy es uno de los más cariñosos que tenemos.
The third one was Pancho, who is almost identical to Money, except that he is older. At first, we didn't distinguish them much, as most of the time they were not both in the same place. Until one day when we realized that we were looking at two different cats. Pancho didn't let himself be touched, as he seemed to be a mistreated cat to whom no other home provided warmth and food. Little by little, we showed him that our intention was not to harm him, but to feed him and take care of him like any other member of the house. After a few months, he began to trust us and today he is one of the most affectionate ones we have.
La cuarta gata, a quien aún no le hemos puesto nombre, fue rescatada hace apenas unos días. Es una gatita muy cariñosa a quien su antiguo dueño dejó abandonada después de vender la finca en la que vivían. Mi papá empezó a llevarle comida, pero se dio cuenta de que necesitaba más cuidados, ya que tiene cataratas en los ojitos que le impiden ver con claridad. Intenté buscar adopción en los grupos de voluntarios, pero al ver que las personas buscan gatos pequeños para adoptar, retiramos el anuncio y decidimos que serían cuatro gatos: Los Aristogatos.
The fourth cat, who we have not named yet, was rescued just a few days ago. She is a very affectionate kitten whom her former owner abandoned after selling the estate where they lived. My dad started to feed her, but he realized that she needed more care, as she has cataracts in her eyes that prevent her from seeing clearly. I tried to find adoption through volunteer groups, but upon seeing that people are looking to adopt small cats, we removed the ad and decided that we would have four cats: The Aristocats.
