THE RAIN -TheInkWell Prompt #78

The cloud was so heavy like it was going to pour all the rain in Heaven that fateful day. It was a combination of dark and white cloud with thunderstorms. The rainy season,a season which is not friendly for most businesses.

The rain was falling heavily and people at home were enjoying the coldness and the "weather for two" feeling the season gives. It's a period everyone needs an umbrella for self defense from being drenched. The goodness that comes with the rainy season does not speak same for Mr Jude.

Mr Jude has been working in a construction company where there was a need for them to mold blocks daily with other outdoor activities. Due to the rainy season it was not an easy task for the company. This has affected their workforce drastically and sales was nothing to write about.

Mr Jude was very worried as this was his only source of income. That didn't stop him from thinking of an idea that could help them. Resigning isn't something to think about as this job is what he is good at and being one of the top staff are reasons he can not think of seeking a new job.

Things were getting out of hand as the number of customers started declining. Due to the intensity of the rain, people became scared of building houses and other exterior designs as this could ruin all the effort put into work if it's done on a rainy day.

Mr Jude's manager called a meeting with his staff and informed them the state of the company and the low sales they were experiencing and he planned on reducing the numbers of his staff by sacking some.

This was disheartening news to the workers and all their minds were on the air. Everybody was thinking who knows if "am the one going to be sacked". Mr Jude who has been thinking daily on how this could be solved suggested a brilliant idea to the CEO of the company.

"My suggestion is that we re-strategize our workforce, we need to diversify our services,so that if we don't get clients in exterior construction we get clients from other jobs that are interior construction related that are not affected during Rainy days. We have already built customer relationships with our clients. If we can render other interior services to them,we won't notice any low productivity in our business line". Mr Jude responded.

The CEO and the staff were all nodding in affirmation to his ideas. After that was accepted, they planned on how to begin, dismissed the meeting and started printing fliers, using radio and television to create awareness on the other added services. The brilliant idea of Mr Jude saved the company from low productivity and income yield .

@marynn I Hope, following the advice of Mr Jude, the CEO did not need to reduce the employees from the company by making a new plan and profits started coming into the company.

Dear friend @fantom22, I appreciate your taking time to read through my story.

I Hope, following the advice of Mr Jude, the CEO did not need to reduce the employees from the company by making a new plan and profits started coming into the company.

Involving interior services is something that will generate lots of funds as they don't have to depend only on exteriors.

So their new plan is something that is time consuming and requires energy in order for services to be rendered faster . So more hands will surely be needed and with this the already existing staff are safe.

Mr Jude’s brilliant idea saved the day - good use of the prompt. Rain can put a damper on certain industry’s profits, it was a thoughtful idea to change the mode of service that the company offered. It’s always grand when people’s jobs are preserved.
