Traveling; Two Memorable Experience.
I have this travel experiences that happen to stand out vividly in my mind ,one left me smiling ang glad as i recall now while the other still fills me with regret.
The best travel experience, was my first trip to the Federal University of Agriculture,Abeokuta,Nigeria.Being an agriculture student in my school too,we were going on an excursion and a learning exercise to an agricultural based institution,i was excited to start my academic journey, and even the journey itself was an adventure. As I got on the bus with fellow students,we were all chatting, laughing, and exchanging stories,i was eager to learn and explore this school that have heard so much about, others have their goals too...we were student.
Upon arrival,we were warmly welcomed by the institution staff and students. The campus was massive, neat and you won't need be told to know this school is everything about agriculture. We spent the next few days exploring the institution, attending orientation programs, trying out new things, visiting their farm,veterinary,poultry.....and making new friends.
Those days were good ones as we would form a circle after the days program with fellow student and our hosts too, sharing our experiences, sharing stories, sharing our interests, sharing the field we love to explore more in in agriculture and backing it up with our individual reasons.
I still have friends from then that will still talk till now.
Now let's shift gears to my worst travel,a journey that still leaves me sour.It was during the COVID-19 pandemic, and interstate travel was heavily restricted,it was then I decided to travel home,as school is scanty and no more foodstuffs, I made the decision but it proved to be a disastrous one.
The journey was a no end one. With no direct buses available for interstate,I had to hop from one bus to another, having hard time passing through through streets, checkpoints and all.Every hop from one bus to another is another unfamiliar routes, very exorbitant fares.
After hours of traveling,my driver saw a checkpoint ahead, which was heavily guarded,he asked us aall to highlight and made a u-turn,what next,i found myself stranded in a small town,no buses in sight. With a heavy heart,I started this long trek asking for directions to get a bus to my destination, I had to later opt for a bike, which could also not take normal routes due to the situation, he went through shortcuts and dusty paths. The discomfort was not something I can explain,I turned dusty from the dust, the bad road...and all.
As I finally reached my destination, exhausted, tired, hungry, sick and drained, I realized the journey had taken its toll on my finances. The total cost i spent on transportation leave me wondering if it was all worth it.
@nwothini335 I wish I had stayed in school and used that money for food and other essentials.I felt miserable, regretting the steps I took,i promised myself not to undergo any sort of travel during uncertain time.
Looking back i cherish the memories of my first trip to the Federal University of Agriculture,Abeokuta, the lessons learnt and the friendships forge. As for the worst,I don't want to remember, but I can't jus take it off my head too,it taught me to be careful in making any kind of decision, especially traveling decisions.
