Facing the ghøst of yesterday

Joke was born into a poor family in Osun State,Nigeria.Despite the financial struggles, her parents valued education and encouraged her to pursue her dreams. However,the reality of their situation meant Joke had to take on domestic work to support her family while attending school.

Joke's days were filled with balancing school and her responsibilities as a househelp. She woke up early,cleaned, cooked and cared for the children in the household before rushing to school.Her evenings were spent studying and completing homework.Despite the stress, Joke kept on putting up with the pressure,stress and all, knowing felly well that education was her ticket out.

One semester,Joke faced a significant challenge. Her fees were overdue, and she risked being expelled if she didn't pay. Desperate, she made a difficult decision. She had a one-night stand with a man who offered to pay her fees in exchange,the encounter left her feeling shattered and ashamed.

Determined to move forward, Joke focused on her studies. She graduated with honors, overcoming countless obstacles.Her hard work paid off when she was accepted into law school.Years later,Joke emerged as a confident and successful lawyer,a barrister,owning a bar.

As Joke approached her 30s, she began considering marriage. She longed for a loving partner and a family of her own. However, her past began to haunt her.The man from the one-night stand reappeared, threatening to reveal their secret unless she agreed to his demands.

Joke was torn between her desire for a peaceful life and the fear of her past ruining her future. She sought guidance from trusted friends and mentors,weighing her options carefully. In the end,Joke decided to confront her past head-on.

With her new found sense of courage,Joke opened up and confessed to her fiancé about her past.to her surprise,he(her fiancé) listened without judgment,offering support.Together,they faced the blackmailer, and Joke finally found closure.

Joke and her lover married,and began building a life filled with love, understanding, and acceptance.
