and for the palate

Homemade Milk Chocolate.

When I was a small child, my mother often made chocolate, and I would eagerly wait to dip my finger in the bowl and lick it.
A few simple ingredients, and the taste so unique.
Nowadays, the shops are full of chocolate, but there is none better than one made at home with lots of love.
When my nephews were in Bulgaria, one day I asked them: "Would you like me to make chocolate?"
They were surprised and asked: "But can you?"
We stirred the tender mousse together and I showed them how I dipped my finger in the chocolate when I was their age.

Ingredients:

  • 500g milk powder
  • 250g butter
  • 150g sugar
  • 200ml water
  • 6 tbsp cocoa
  • vanilla

Preparation:

Mix the water, sugar and butter in a bowl and put them on the heat until the sugar melts (it should not boil).
In another bowl, put the milk powder, cocoa powder and vanilla and mix well.
Then add the liquid mixture to the dry mixture, whisking constantly.
Pour into bowls or cups and refrigerate for a few hours.
When it cools, a hard crust forms on the surface and when we break it up with the spoon, the tender mousse underneath is revealed, caressing our palate.
I confess, we didn't wait for it to cool and tried it immediately. ;)

How good times were...
The shops didn't have the abundance they have now, our mothers were very inventive and prepared everything at home. Now it's easy, you go to the store and buy whatever you want, but is everything there harmless? I'm not saying the sugar we put in homemade desserts is good for us, but we certainly save ourselves all the unknown sweeteners, fats and preservatives in store-bought foods.
