Due to many reasons, several areas of the United States may experience blackouts during the summer. Electricity is needed more in the summer. In order to cope with the increased demand of electricity, supply has to increase accordingly. There is where the problem lies.
- Fossil fuel plants are being decommissioned.
- A megadrought is decreasing hydroelectric power generation in the American southwest.
- Supply chain issues are compromising the availability of batteries and components for wind and solar energy generation.
Rolling blackouts could be the elected measure to ensure the stability of the electric grid.
