[ESP] En ese momento a Zacarías se le soltó la lengua, recobró el habla y empezó a bendecir a Dios.

Con excepción de la Virgen María, el Bautista es el único santo del que la liturgia celebra el nacimiento, y lo hace porque está íntimamente vinculado con el misterio de la Encarnación del Hijo de Dios.
Cuando leemos la Biblia, en el Nuevo Testamento, nos damos cuenta que todos los evangelistas (Mateo, Lucas, Marcos y Juan) hablan de la importancia de Juan el Bautista en el camino de la salvación. En el evangelio de San Mateo 11,10-11; es el mismo Jesús de Nazaret quien, al referirse a Juan el Bautista, dice:
«Este es de quien está escrito: “Yo envío a mi mensajero delante de ti, para que prepare tu camino ante ti. En verdad os digo que no ha nacido de mujer uno más grande que Juan el Bautista; aunque el más pequeño en el reino de los cielos es más grande que él”»
El nombre de Juan significa «Dios ha hecho la gracia». El papa Francisco dice: Y este niño será heraldo, testigo de la gracia de Dios para los pobres que esperan con humilde fe su salvación. Ángelus 24 de junio de 2018
En el evangelio de hoy se destaca la procedencia divina de Juan el Bautista y la importancia que él reviste, delante de Jesús, en el camino de la salvación. Es Juan el que va adelante anunciando la llegada del hijo de Dios, es Juan quien va a presentar al Mesías, es Juan quien tiene el honor supremo de bautizar con agua al Salvador del Mundo.
Al cierre de este humilde comentario, quiero invitar a reflexionar lo sucedido a Zacarías cuando escribió: «Juan es su nombre» Dice el evangelio que inmediatamente se le soltó la boca y la lengua, y empezó a hablar bendiciendo a Dios. Esa es precisamente nuestra misión como cristianos, bendecir y dar gracias a Dios en todo momento. Recordemos que el principal mandamiento de la Ley es Amar a Dios sobre todas las cosas. También quiero invitar para que sigamos el ejemplo de Juan el Bautista, vayamos anunciando y preparando la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, en este caso, su segunda venida ¡Cristo Viene... Aleluya!

In today's Gospel, the divine origin of John the Baptist and the importance that he has, before Jesus, in the path of salvation are highlighted. It is John who goes ahead announcing the arrival of the Son of God, it is John who is going to present the Messiah, it is John who has the supreme honor of baptizing the Savior of the World with water.
At the end of this humble comment, I want to invite you to reflect on what happened to Zacharias when he wrote: "His name is John." The Gospel says that immediately his mouth and tongue were released, and he began to speak blessing God. That is precisely our mission as Christians, to bless and give thanks to God at all times. Let us remember that the main commandment of the Law is Love God above all things. Por aquellos días, le llegó a Isabel la hora de dar a luz y tuvo un hijo. Cuando sus vecinos y parientes se enteraron de que el Señor le había manifestado tan grande misericordia, se regocijaron con ella.
A los ocho días fueron a circuncidar al niño y le querían poner Zacarías, como su padre; pero la madre se opuso, diciéndoles: “No. Su nombre será Juan”. Ellos le decían: “Pero si ninguno de tus parientes se llama así”.
Entonces le preguntaron por señas al padre cómo quería que se llamara el niño. Él pidió una tablilla y escribió: “Juan es su nombre”. Todos se quedaron extrañados. En ese momento a Zacarías se le soltó la lengua, recobró el habla y empezó a bendecir a Dios.
Un sentimiento de temor se apoderó de los vecinos y en toda la región montañosa de Judea se comentaba este suceso. Cuantos se enteraban de ello se preguntaban impresionados: “¿Qué va a ser de este niño?” Esto lo decían, porque realmente la mano de Dios estaba con él.
El niño se iba desarrollando físicamente y su espíritu se iba fortaleciendo, y vivió en el desierto hasta el día en que se dio a conocer al pueblo de Israel.

In those days, it was time for Elizabeth to give birth and she had a son. When her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her such great mercy, they rejoiced with her.

The boy was developing physically and his spirit was getting stronger, and he lived in the desert until the day he made himself known to the people of Israel.
