SOMOS LA NOCHE

Tú y yo
somos el aire
sobre el océano
somos una canción
y otra
somos el verde en la sabana
la risa de un niño
somos luz
y nos hundimos en la oscuridad
nos encontramos sin tocarnos
nos besamos sin mirarnos
somos las páginas de un libro
que aún no se ha escrito
somos un país de retazos
somos la Constitución de un país
los decretos
que no va a firmar ningún presidente
somos el té sobre la mesa
somos la noche dentro de la noche
somos la distancia quebrada
las aguas del Támesis
buscando el mar.

WE ARE THE NIGHT

You and I
are the air
over the ocean
we are a song
and another
we are the green in the savanna
the laughter of a child
we are light
and we sink into darkness
we find each other without touching
we kiss without looking at each other
we are the pages of a book
that has yet to be written
we are a country of patches
we are the Constitution of a nation
the decrees
that no president will sign
we are the tea on the table
we are the night within the night
we are the broken distance
the waters of the Thames
seeking the sea.
