Splinterlands Art Contest Week 200 - Celestial Harpy.

What's up my dear card game lovers, welcome back to my artistic blog and I come with a work just out of the oven hehe, for my participation today I bring you The Celestial Harpy which is a work which I had wanted to do for a couple of weeks to try to vary a little the theme of magic in my participations. At first I was a little hesitant to start it for this week because the character has so many details that I thought I would not have time to finish it on time, fortunately I did it and I want to share with you the final result and I hope you love it:

Que pasa mis queridos amantes del juego de cartas, sean bienvenidos de Nuevo a mi blog artístico y les vengo con una obra recién salida del horno jeje, para mi participación del día de hoy les traigo a La Harpía Celestial la cual es una obra la cual tenía ganas de realizar desde hace par de semana para tratar de variar un poco el tema de la magia en mis participaciones. Al principio dude un poco en iniciarla para esta semana pues al tener tantos detalles el personaje pensé que no me daría tiempo de terminarlo a tiempo, afortunadamente lo logre y quiero compartirles el resultado final y espero les encante:

PROCESS / PROCESO

To start my drawing I spent a long time trying out strokes and creating a couple of sketches that would transmit the imposing essence that Harpies had in mythological times, I tried to create a good combination between a beautiful woman and a winged creature with certain characteristic features of birds; I created a somewhat mischievous and confident pose as if our celestial Harpy was contemplating her long and sharp nails or claws. After building a character that I really liked the next step was to start applying colors to my drawing.

Para comenzar mi dibujo estuve un buen rato probando trazos y creando un par de bocetos que transmitieran la esencia imponente que tenían las Harpías en la época mitológica, traté de crear una buena combinación entre una hermosa mujer y una criatura alada con ciertos rasgos característicos de las aves; cree una pose algo picara y confiada como si nuestra Harpía celestial estuviera contemplando sus larga y afiladas uñas o garras. Luego de construir un personaje que me gustó mucho el siguiente paso fue el de comenzar a aplicar colores a mi dibujo.

In the case of this character I decided to use a much more intense purple than the original character of the card, this to give a more personalized style to my drawing and also because I really liked this dark purple that I had in my color palette. Finished with the skin the next thing was to build a good expression to the face with very bright eyes and voluptuous lips to give a little sensuality to the Harpy.

En el caso de este personaje me anime a usar un morado muchísimo más intenso que el del personaje original de la carta, esto para darle un estilo un poco más personalizado a mi dibujo y también porque me gustó mucho este morado oscuro que tenía en mi paleta de colores. Terminado con la piel lo siguiente fue irle construyendo una buena expresión al rostro con unos ojos muy brillantes y unos labios voluptuosos para darle un poco de sensualidad a la Harpía.

The next step in the painting was the creation of the Harpy's feather suit, this I must confess was one of the most difficult of the whole drawing because I wanted to achieve a good level of detail and that each feather looked well coupled one over the other; for this I created a couple of layers and used more than 4 different brushes to make a good sharp texture on the feathers. Finish some details like the gems on the forehead with some bright blue and yellow colors; and finish this section with the claws or sharp nails in a very dark purple.

El siguiente paso en el pintado fue el de la creación del traje de plumas de la Harpía, esto debo confesar fue de los más difícil de todo el dibujo pues quiera lograr un buen nivel de detalle y que cada pluma se viera bien acoplada una sobre la otra; para esto cree un par de capas y utilice más de 4 pinceles diferentes para poder hacer una buena textura afilada en las plumas. Ultime algunos detalles como las gemas sobre la frente con algunos colores azules y amarillos brillantes; y culmine este apartado con las garras o uñas afiladas en un morado muy oscuro.

After finishing with the feather suit I continued giving color and shape to the Harpy's hair with a pale yellow that I liked a lot and with which I tried to give a little wavy shape outwards to the short hair of this character; little by little I made thin strokes until I got a good hairstyle. After finishing the hair I continued to paint the harpy's wings, this was a little easier since I decided to apply the same painting technique of the suit and I was building much larger and elongated feathers; but I also added other stronger and darker tones to make a little difference and contrast.

Luego de terminar con el traje de plumas continúe dándole color y forma al pelo de la Harpía con un amarillo pálido que me gustó mucho y con el que trate de darle un poco de forma ondulada hacia afuera al cabello corto de este personaje; poco a poco realice trazos delgados hasta logar un buen peinado. Luego de finalizar el pelo seguí al pintado de las alas de la harpía, esto ya me fue un poco más sencillo ya que decidí aplicar la misma técnica de pintado del traje y fui construyendo unas plumas mucho más grandes y alargadas; pero también añadí otros tonos más fuertes y oscuros para marcar un poco de diferencia y contraste.

Finally I managed to create a good drawing molded to my own style that fascinated me a lot, but it seemed to me that I also needed a good background to accompany the Harpy and so I got down to work; first I applied some red and black color as a base to go blurring a little and mix. Then with a textured tip brush I made some scattered brush strokes and then I created some small spheres in the background to simulate an open galaxy with many planets; finally I added some last electric touches to the background that I thought were great.

Finalmente conseguí crear un buen dibujo amoldado a mi estilo propio que me fascino mucho, pero me pareció que también necesitaba un buen fondo que acompañara a la Harpía y por ello me puse manos a la obra; primero aplique un poco de color rojos y negro como base para ir difuminando un poco y mezclar. Luego con un pincel de punta texturizada realice algunos brochazos dispersos y luego cree algunas esferas pequeñas en el fondo para simular como una galaxia abierta con muchos planetas; finalmente añadí unos últimos toques eléctricos al fondo que me parecieron geniales.
