Eyes that Reflect Sadness

Hello my dear readers, happy Friday to all of you and I hope you had an excellent and productive week full of good things, as many of you already know my name is Manuel and it is a great pleasure to have you here again in my artistic blog. This time I wanted to share with you a drawing in which I have been working since last Wednesday, it is a work that I started with a free theme, that is to say something that was not related to magic, fantasy, or warrior characters, it is perhaps a work a little related to melancholy, of a girl whom I decided to call by the name of Selene, which as you can see is going through a strong pain or sadness, smoking a cigarette while tears run down her cheeks without stop:

Hola mis queridos lectores y lectoras, feliz viernes para todos y espero que hayan tenido una excelente semana full productiva y llena de cosas buenas, como muchos ya me conocerán mi nombre es Manuel y es un gran gusto tenerlos por aquí de nuevo en mi blog artístico. En esta ocasión quise compartirles un dibujo en el cual estuve trabajando desde el pasado miércoles, se trata de una obra que comencé a temática libre, es decir algo que no estuviese relacionado con la magia, fantasía, o personajes guerreros, se trata quizá de una obra un poco relacionada con la melancolía, de una chica a la cual decidí llamar por el nombre de Selene, la cual como podrán apreciar se encuentra pasando por un fuerte dolor o tristeza, fumando un cigarrillo mientras las lagrimas corren por sus mejillas sin parar:

The first thing was to make a good sketch and this I did in the program (krita) because I like the pencil brush that this program has because it allows more fluidity in the strokes, I drew Selene with an approximate age of 25 years old, with a thin and athletic build and also I thought to complement it with a long and smooth hair which would cover much of her face. In the case of the colors I preferred this time to go to the Sai program because there I have some good warm tones to work the skin as I am used to, the base of the skin I made it with a soft salmon color and then in a top layer I used the watercolor to form the volume of the skin softening a little; after having the basic shape of the face and the hands I created 2 layers, in the first one I created the glows and lighting produced by the ambient light, and in the second one I created the shadows of occlusion and deep shadows.

Lo primero fue realizar un buen boceto y esto lo hice en el programa (krita) ya que el pincel de lápiz con el que cuenta este programa me gusta muchísimo ya que permite mas fluidez en los trazos, dibujé a Selene con una edad aproximada de 25 años de edad, con una contextura delgada y atlética y además se me ocurrió complementarla con una larga y lisas cabellera la cual cubriera gran parte de su rostro. En el caso de los colore preferí esta vez irme al programa Sai ya que ahí cuento con unas buenas tonalidades cálidas para trabajar la piel como ya estoy acostumbrado, la base de la piel la realice con un color salmón suave y luego en una capa superior use la acuarela para ir formando el volumen de la piel suavizando un poco; luego de tener la forma básica del rostro y las mano cree 2 capas, en la primera forma los brillos e iluminación producidas por la luz ambiental, y en la 2da cree las sombras de oclusión y sombras profundas.

With my airbrush brush at a relatively low opacity I was giving strokes and sketches of red to print a little warmth characteristic in the area of the cheeks and eyelids so that the face looked a little more alive, then I worked on the eyes in a separate layer, in this case I decided to create the eyes with a soft blue tone that I liked a lot and that I thought would give a special touch to Selene; later for the lips I decided to go more towards tones like peach linked with a bit of pink and white to form a very soft and subtle lips.

Con mi pincel de aerógrafo a una opacidad relativamente bajo fui dando brochazos y esbozos de color rojo para imprimir un poco calidez característica en la zona de las mejillas y los parpados de modo que el rostro se viese un poco mas vivo, luego me dedique a trabajar los ojos en una capa aparte, en este caso me anime a crear los ojos con una tonalidad azul suave que me gustó mucho y que me pareció le darían un toque especial a Selene; posteriormente para los labios si decidí irme mas hacia tonos como el durazno ligado con un poco de rosa y blanco para formar unos labios bastante suaves y sutiles.

For the painting of the hair I decided to go more towards the yellowish tones to form a long and shiny blonde hair, first I used a flat brush to form the base of the hair leaving thin strokes and curved tips on the sides, then with a soft bristle brush I created what would be the relief in the hair also leaving some loose strokes to the sides; and at the end I like to create some more strokes and form irregular and loose strands of hair to give that last voluminous and shiny touch to the hair, especially in the fringe area. For the painting of the clothes I decided to create a kind of sweater of thin brown fabric, the idea here was to use a diffuse and a little scattered brush to get a good noisy texture and at the end with flat brushes to create the details of shadows and reflections of ambient light with some high red tones.

Para el pintado del cabello decidí irme mas hacia los tonos amarillentos para formar una larga y brillante cabellera rubia, primero usé un pincel plano para formar la base del pelo dejando trazos finos y puntas curvar en los lados, luego con un pincel de cerdas suaves cree lo que serian el relieve en el pelo igualmente dejando algunos trazos sueltos hacia los lados; ya al final me gusta crear algunos trazos mas y formar mechones de pelo irregulares y sueltos que le den ese ultimo toque voluminosos y brillante al pelo, sobre todo en la zona del flequillo. Para el pintado de la ropa decidí crear una especie de suéter de tela delgada de color marrón, la idea aquí era usar pincele de punta difusa y un poco dispersa para conseguir una buena textura ruidosa y al final con pinceles planos ir creando los detalles de sombras y reflejos de luz ambiental con algunos tonos rojos altos.

Finally I dedicated myself in a separate layer to paint the cigarette in his hand, here I didn't take much care of the strokes and try to make them slightly imperfect to give it a better realism, use soft gray and yellow tones to create the cigarette, and then for the part of the tip try to form that kind of texture of ashes mixing grays, reds and oranges with a medium opacity noise brush; then to create the smoke trail coming out of the cigarette I used a layer effect with the soft color and formed a small cloud of smoke dissipating in the air. For the background I created a kind of open blue sky covered with many white and gray clouds; also with a small brush and the effect (Shine) I painted 2 watery lines that would be the tears flowing from Selene's eyes and running to the sides of her face.

Ya a lo último me dedique en una capa aparte a pintar en cigarrillo en su mano, aquí no cuide mucho los trazos y trate de hacerlos levemente imperfectos para darle un mejor realismo, use tonos grises y amarillos suaves para crear el cigarrillo, y luego para la parte de la punta trate de forma esa especie de textura de cenizas mezclando grises, rojos y naranjas con un pincel de ruido a opacidad media; después para crear la estela de humo saliendo del cigarrillo use un efecto de capa con el color blando y forme una pequeña nube de humo disipándose en le aire. Para el fondo se me ocurrió crear una especie de cielo azul abierto y cubierto de muchas nubes blancas y grises; además de que con un pincel pequeño y el efecto (Shine) pinte 2 líneas acuosas que serían las lagrimas brotando desde los ojos de Selene y corriendo a los lados de su rostro.
