What are the different ways to earn HIVE? A #HiveBasics Initiative

Hello readers,

If you are a new user to Hive social media platform and curious about how to earn Hive, look no further as you have come to the right place! Even if you are not aware of the hive platform but curious about how it works, this post may be helpful for you.

HIVE is a cryptocurrency token just like bitcoin or Etheriun or Litecoin which holds a monetary value and Hive.blog is the social media platform where you can earn hive tokens by posting quality articles about different topics and also by voting and commenting on other articles. Hive is a liquid currency and it is very easy to trade hive tokens with various popular cryptocurrency exchanges like Bittrex, Binance, Lonomy etc.

In a general view, hive.blog is like any other social media where you can interact with people from all over the world through uploading articles of your choice and by liking and commenting on others post. But unlike any other social media, you can earn real money for your quality content and interactions in hive.blog.

In traditional social media like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram we all use to spend a large amount of your daily time by surfing others stories, giving them likes and also following our favourite content creators and comment on their posts. But as a user, we don't earn anything from them despite using them all the time.

But that not the case in here as hive blockchain has brought a revolutionary change to the procedural social media concept where you, the users will get paid for their precious time and hard work. In hive.blog, you earn in different ways and I will discuss them.

Before taking a dive into the whole earning thing, let me first clear the basic facts here in very simple words.

In a conventional social network system, there are mainly 2 types of activities a user do. Those are poting and interacting with others.

  • Post - We upload our daily activities, places we travel, the dishes we eat, the songs we sing or the pictures we draw. Basically we upload all the special things that happen in our daily life. Photographers share their best clicks with a little detail. Cooks share their awesome recipes and experts share their knowledge. On average, I am from India and in here, a normal user spent daily 2.4 hours on social media on average and globally its 2.5 hours. Not having a social account is like being an outcast in this modern society as it has become a part of our life now.
  • Interact - Not only posting, but we also can interact with other users while surfing our feed list or trending list. You may discover an Indie band of your taste and praise them with likes and comments and probably a share/retweet to spread the news to our friend/follow list. Like, comment, share and Follow as these are the 4 main tools of interaction in any social media platform.

Now, You may get surprised, but its basically the same concept of Hive. As I have said above, you are able to do all those above as well in hive.bog.

Creating content

If you are a quality content creator, you can easily get rewarded in here just by uploading your original work. Depending on your article quality, you get votes from other users and communities on hive.blog and thus get paid for your content. In hive.blog, every user's vote contains a monetary value which proportionally depends on how much Hive the user has staked. There are thousands of users with big vote value who curates quality posts daily. Also, many popular communities are there who curates original and awesome contents on hive.blog and supports and encourage users to write more.

I will highly suggest interacting with some great communities in hive chain like #bdcommunity, #ocd, #gems and many others. All of the groups have their own discord server where you can chat with other users and admins in real-time to discuss your interests or any problems you are facing. Many groups also organise contests and there are a lot to choose from photography contests, cooking contest, art/design contests and also contests related to blockchain awareness or ad campaigns. Foe a great example I would like to mention @bdcommunity writing contests, Every week they create awesome writing contests and award partakers with nice upvotes and liquid HIve tokens as rewards. Last week, they handed out a large number of high votes to quality contest entries and also rewarded the winner @zayedsakib with 1000 HIVE by the sponsor @azircon for his excellent article! So, I can assure you there are a million opportunities to earn from Hive blockchain if you can work hard.

All you have to do is to put some effort while making your content and stand out from the crowd, make them unique and catchy and you will surely get noticed!

For posting articles, you get votes just like you use to get them on other social media platforms but in here every vote contains a monetary value! Yes, every user has monetary value on their votes and the vote value directly depends upon how much Hive stake that user owns. Exactly after 7 days of posting, you get 50% of the total payout that your post has generated by those votes. The other 50% is being distributed among the voters who voted our post. After 7 days, you get 50% of the total payout in your hive wallet. Suppose your post has made total 10$, so roughly you will get 5$ and the rest 5$ will be distributed among all the users who voted you with respect to their hive power and vote percentage. your payment will further be divided equally into liquid hive tokens and staked hive (aka hive power). Liquid hive can be exchanged for fiat money in exchanges, and the staked hive (aka Hive Power) will increase your voting strength. Also, note that you can also unstake your hive power anytime and convert it into liquid hive token.

Comments

In short, comments work the same way as of those post. Simply when you leave meaningful comments on other user's posts, you may get some good votes on your comments and get rewarded for your interaction.

Vote

Yes, we can also earn by voting other's posts in here. But before going into that, let us understand how it works. Imagine a bank where you deposit money and get interest from it periodically, the same principle has been applied in here also. Hive power is the staked version of hive token which we deposit in our wallet and as a result, our vote value gets increased. As I told you above, 50% of the total payout from your post gets distributed among the voters who get a share depending on their hive stake amount, voting time and how much percentage vote they have given on your post. So you will also be getting money for voting other's posts and the bigger your hive power, the bigger the returns.

image.png,image.png

In the above picture, as you can see, the user at left is holding 6765 HP (hive power) and the vote value is approx 0.13$ while the user in the right is holding 273960 HP and the vote value is approx 5.4$! Note that the vote value is not static or users would vote million times a day and the financial system will get collapsed. The vote value is dynamic and controlled by the mana bar. For giving out every 100% vote, your mana bar gets decreased by 2% and it takes 2 hours to regenerate that 2%. Now, this is quite a long and complex mechanism to elaborate but just know that after giving out every vote, your vote value decreases a little and regenerates over time. Ideally, you have to maintain a good mana bar (above 80%) and have to control yourself from rush voting in order to get higher returns.

Now, There are various ways to get hive power as shown below...

  • You can stake your liquid hive as hive power.
  • You can buy liquid hive from the exchanges and power it up.
  • By default, you get 50% liquid hive and 50% hive power for your posts and comments, but you can choose 100% power up option at settings to get 100% of your payout as hive power.
  • You can also lease hive power from dlease.io in exchange with the liquid hive.

Well, Hive power will not only give you the curation rewards for voting but it also has a number of other applications as well. You can delegate your hive power to other users or communities for daily liquid payouts. In this way, you don't have to stress about investing time to curate posts but you will still get a good income by delegating your hive power. There are some popular communities who have these types of delegation programs running. Some great examples of manual curators who are doing an awesome curation job and improving the platform are @bdvoter, @ocdb, @upmewwhale, @appreciator and others. There are a ton of manual curation teams working on the platform, so just choose any of them who suits you the best.

I hope by now you know all the different ways to earn on HIVE, So what are you waiting for! Grab yourself a hive account at hive.io
