Splinterlands | This soul-bound fire card is my new favourite
What’s up Splinterlands players!
I hope all of you are enjoying the day with your family and friends and also enjoying this amazing strategy game in the meantime. For those like me who play this game on a regular basis, I am sure that you are collecting those daily reward chests by playing in the ranked arena against other players and earning yourself sweet SPS, reward NFT cards and other goodies like chaos packs, merits and potions and gradually upgrading your reward cards upto your playing league level, so that you can use them and gain more victories in the game. Well, in this post, I will be chatting about one such reward card that I recently upgraded to max level and really love to use it in battles.
FEROX DEFENDER
In today’s post, I will be talking about the Ferox Defender, one of the cool reward cards that got added into the game recently with the launch of the latest soul-bound edition reward cardset. Ferox (and not Forex) Defender is a melee attacking type card and this card belongs to the Fire splinter. Ferox needs a whooping 8 mana and it possesses a good amount of health + armour on it so it can be counted as a defensive card. At max level, it carries 3 abilities which makes it even more powerful and I will be talking about them below. I just recently upgraded this card to max level and now getting extras which I will be saving for now as these newest edition reward cards are of soul-bound type, which means you can’t sell, send, delegate, rent or even burn them right now.
Ferox Defender is a common type card so it needs a total of 400 BCX (singles) of these cards to upgrade them all into max level but however, as I play in Champion league, I get multiple BCXs of cards from single reward chests often which helped me greatly to upgrade this card to max level so soon. Now taking a look at its stats, at max level, it possesses 3 melee attack at 3 speed with 5 armour and 8 health along with 3 abilities - Protect, Repair and Shatter. Let us now take a deeper look into its stats and abilities level wise at below.
Bronze
At level 3, this card possesses 1 melee attack at 2 speed with 4 armour and 7 health and it also gets the Protect ability since the initial level. The Protect ability will give +2 armour to all the friendly monsters so you can use it to increase defence against melee and tanged attackers simply by using this card.
Silver
At level 5, this card’s stat gets increased a bit more and it carries 2 melee attack at 2 speed with 5 armour and 8 health. Though it does not get any new ability at Silver League, the increased attack and health + armour combo gives you more power and defence in the battle.
Gold
When you upgrade this card to level 8, it possesses 2 melee attack at 3 speed with 5 armour and 8 health and it also gets a new ability from level 6 - Repair. With this new ability it can now bring back a portion of broken armour on any friendly monster and it works every round.
Diamond / Champion
When this card gets upgraded to the maximum level which is 10, it gets an increased 3 melee attack at 3 speed with 5 armour and 8 health and also hets its last ability Shatter from level 9. Now, I personally love to use Shatter ability often when facing armoured monsters because when a monster with the shatter ability hits an enemy monster, the enemy monster loses all of its armour irrespective of the attack power.
Battle Stat
Battle Link
Here is a recent battle from my account where I used the Ferox Defender and scored a sweet victory. It was a large 45 mana limit match with 3 match rulesets applied - Lost magic (no magic monsters can be used), Melee Mayhem (melee attacking monster can attack from any position and target the first enemy monster) and Stampede (the trample ability can be triggered multiple times if it kills the targeted monster every time) and all the splinters except Water were allowed to be used in this match.
In this match, I chose the legendary fire summoner Yodin Zaku and in my lineup, I chose the Living Lava monster at my front, followed by Ferox Defender, Ash Mirage, Molten Ash Golem, Supply Runner and Spark Pixies at the end position. As the match got revealed, I find out that my opponent has chosen the Legendary Death summoner Astral Entity and at his front, he chose the Ever-hungry Skull, followed by Cursed Windeku, Harklaw, Lira the Dark, Dhampir Stalker and Pelacor Deceiver at the end position.
As the match started, my spark Pixies died at the very first round after getting a direct attack from Lira and then the return fire from skull, but I also killed his skull soon after, thou it got back resurrected because of the summoner’s ability. However, my Ferox helped me by repairing 2 armour back on the Living Lava but missed its attack on the skull.
At the second round, the Lira almost killed my supply runner and my Lava’s condition got poor too after receiving multiple attacks, but the Ferox again repaired 2 armour back on it but unluckily missed its attack on the skull this time as well. But the lava finally got its first kill by taking down the Windeku with the blast.
As the third round started, the Lira took down the supply runner at the beginning but then lava and skull killed each other and ferox came to the front position. After taking the Harklaw’s attack, it repaired its own armour and then damaged both Harklaw and Lira.
As the fourth round began, my Ferox took all the enemy attacks but still loved and then repaired 2 armour in it again and then with the help of my golem it finally took down that evil Lira together.
In the fifth round, my Ash attacked first and wounded both the Harklaw and Stalker but sadly it got killed by the attacks of Harklaw and Stalker. However, my Golem took the revenge soon after and killed down the Harklaw. Next round, it attacked again and with the blast it took down both the Stalker and Deceiver and this, I scored another awesome victory in the ranked arena thanks to my brave monsters, especially the Ferox Defender.
As you saw in the match, the Ferox constantly helped me here by repairing armours on my friendly monster Living Lava and later on itself and that helped to make both of them stay alive for a longer time period while my rear minsters were attacking and killing them one by one. However, with decent attack and speed, it felt weak against high speed and flying Monsters so you have to keep that in mind while using it in your lineups.
I hope you loved watching the battle that I shared and talked about above and also liked reading my post. Let me know which level your Ferox is currently at and I will be seeing you all in my next post!
Wish you all good luck on all of your future Splinterlands matches.
