Splinterlands | How to Play the Brand New Soulkeep NFT game

What’s up my fellow Splinterlands players!

I hope all of you are doing well in your life and also enjoying this amazing day with your friends and family. If you are connected well with the splinter universe, then you must be aware of its newest product, Soulkeep. Soulkeep is a completely different game from the splinterlands and in this game, you will see a tower defence based strategy game where you will be given a map with and one or multiple paths and enemy troops will be marching on these roads and you as a player have to kill them With towers before they reach the other side. Just recently, I got fortunate enough to try playing this amazing brand new game from the house of Splinterlands and today, I will be talking about the basics of this game and how to play and build Your tower cards. So, without any further ado, let’s jump right in.

About SOULKEEP

As I said above, Soulkeep is a Tower defense strategy game and especially if you use to try different mobile Games, you must have played them. Here, players have to place different types of towers strategically and upgrade them and also use spells and other in-game Items to kill the enemy troops. Splinterlands Soulkeep is also such a game and from my personal experience, I really enjoyed playing the game and after winning 2 levels in the game and trying multiple times for the tournaments, I want to say that this game is a bit tough and not as easy as you may think at the beginning. You really have to play well with your tower collection and as you level up in the leagues, you also have to upgrade your tower cards or it will keep becoming harder, so its the same mechanics as we see in splinterlands.

How to play

To play the Soulkeep game, you have to open splinterlands first then locate the icon with ‘S’ in the menu bar above, Soulkeep will open in a new window after you click on it, and then you will be redirected to the home page of the Soulkeep game. Here you can interact with all the different options available in the game as stated below

At Center position

• Play Battle Mode.

• Play Tournament (below Battle mode),

On the Left side

• Rewards

• Market

• Game Shop

On Right side

• Leagues

• Open Packs My

• Defences

These are all the available options to interact in the game and here you can check your collection and level of cards, search the market for cards or list your cards, Rewards you generated from your gameplay, Game shop, League and details, Opening Soulkeep packs and a lot more. I have been playing this game for only 2-3 days and I have played a good number of Ranked matches and 3 tournaments so far. Tournaments as hard in Soulkeep and I have lost there miserably in all my attempts, but I have learned well and till now, I can pass out 2 levels and reach in Gold League top. Now, not all my cards are upgraded and here, I am Feeling the need for some Cards to be upgraded or I can’t perform well in tournaments, where the prize money is actually hiding.

BATTLE MODE

When you play Battle Mode, upon clicking the switch you will be redirected to the deck building page where you have to select particular tower cards from your collection that you think will be useful. I have unlocked 4 slots in my Deck so I can carry max 4 different tower cards. Apart from towers, you can also carry potions and I am already a fan of this game’s poison which slows down and wounds enemy troops and lastly, if you have a Hero card you can select that in this stage,

Tower Deck Building

Now, after choosing your favorable tower cards, spells and Hero you will be redirected next to the battle map and there will be a ton of different maps like the one I have shared above with different levels of difficulty. For this map, you can see two different roads A and B meeting a C point and in the middle, the road is also connected with another circular road. This is the path on which the enemy troops will march and enter into the green glowing portal at the endpoint of the road, as shown in the map above. Now, you can also see multiple holes highlighted in the map, these are the places on which, you can place your Towers. You have to place your towers in such a way that you kill maximum monsters before they reach the other end. For every level, there will be multiple waves and for each wave, all the paths which the enemy troops will walk on will be highlighted with arrows as you can see from the screenshot above.

TOWERS & SPELLS

Now, you will be given a limited amount of power which you can use to buy and place the towers at the beginning of each wave. There will be a limited number on how many towers you can use of the same tower card written at the right above corner, and at the below middle section of the card, you can see the required energy to use that card. Now, after seeing the path I built my tower positions accordingly and also utilized the total energy to place 4 towers on the battle map.

Monsters

After I placed all the Towers, I hit the battle button and the troops started coming in. There are different types of monsters that you will see in this game and every monster here holds different characteristics. For example - some monsters are little and weak but come in hordes and walk super fast while some monsters have thick skin and are very hard to kill. You can fast forward the gameplay using the buttons above or can also skip the gameplay and view the results directly.

HERO

Apart from towers and spells, you can also use a Hero card in the battle map and as an advantage over towers which can be only placed inside those particular holes, you can place your hero anywhere in the road while playing the game. Hero is a powerful item in the game and to play competitively, you must own a hero and upgrade it to match your strength. There will be certain levels where you just can't protect your defense just by using towers and spells, you must need a hero by your side to save the day.

My Progress

In my first times, I was passing the first 2 or 3 waves but getting busted repeatedly at wave 4. Finally, after playing the same level for some time and trying different strategies and towers, I was able to win all 6 levels finally after a while of playing and moved on to the next level. Till now, I have passed 2 levels and right now stand at League 1 Gateway Level 5/5. I think I need another win to reach the next league.
