Being a millennial, my childhood days didn't have a smartphone (or any phone) or a computer and information could only be transferred through TV or Books. In. My childhood days, I was a curious child looking for more than his syllabus and by time I finished one or two classes in the primary school, I also started reading story books outside my school books that my father used to buy For me and over time as I started growing, the habit of reading story books only grew larger and there was a time when I have a full shelve of story books of different genre but mostly fromSci-Fi or adventure or Fantasy story books. I also used to love reading books from other countries as well available in my language Bengali and also started buying monthly story magazine that are used to available at news stand. Later at these same news stands I found my first comics and quickly got into the comic reading addiction which is that’s another story.

For my own taste in story books, my choice peculiarly grew for Sci-Fi and Ghost stories over time and back then I used to save and spend all of my pocket money to buy any new story book or magazines available at nearby book stores and news stands and when I finally complete my primary schooling and and entered a high school, it has a big library book which quickly become my treasure room and I started spending time during recess or after class hours to read story books but sadly, I did not find much books on my favourite genre, so after enjoying reading some biographies and life stories of great personalities ad also some history based or international story books, there was nothing left for me in the library and I took a turn back into my own genre again.

I still remember how much I used to love reading these story books and I used to spend whole noon or afternoon time lying on bed or a sofa and keep readings hours after hours. I also used to read story book at night time before sleeping whenever I was quick to finish my homework and dinner, but I still remember never choose to read horror book during night time because they used to scare me a lot in my childhood days. If any day I read a scary horror story where a ghost is very fearful in description, then I used to get scared for next 3 or 4 days at least and used to call my mother every time I am alone in the room or wanna go to bathroom. In my collection of ghost story books, there was a lot of different kind of ghosts named in our native language where some don't have a head and talks with a mouth on his belly, some lurks in water and snatch you in if you are swimming alone, some lady ghosts skinny figured that hides on tall trees and kills people who go beneath that tree and the list goes on. I also find about Dracula later on that is written by Bam Stroker and really liked the blood sucking immortal character who is impossible to kill ma only if you can put a silver cross in his chest or use Garlic to annoy him.

Apart from these Ghost stories, I also used to love Sci-Fi stories where I find a new world filled with different types of aliens some friends and rest all evil trying to conquer earth or kill humans. I learned about space, possibility of life in other planets, what if we can time travel, making super humans through experiment that generally goes rouge afterwards or killing inter galactic notorious creatures or saving friendly people - I spend years after these types of stories and they are still somehow stored in my mind probably. Later when my father took a colour digital tv and DVD player, that was my first interaction with digital media which is responsible for quitting my story book habit. But however, as in my early 30s when I recall my life, I think those were the golden best days of my entire life that I will never forget.

I hope you liked reading my post about my life experiences with ghost story books. Have you also read story books like me in stage of your life? Let me know in the comment section below and I will be seeing you all in my next post.

It makes me wonder because I can totally relate with this, as a kid it always scared the sh*t out of me but as I grew older, I am not anymore.

Do we become braver as we frow older or we are not afraid anymore because we learned that they are not real?

Many of the fictional stories ended up as today's realities.
It is only a matter of time before today's fiction becomes tomorrow's reality.

I had tons of books as a child and I read everything I could get my hands on, stories, myths and legends were my greatest hobby.

Ghost stories and associated themes occupied a good space among my books, in fact I recorded psychophonies when I was twelve years old. What was a terrible mistake, are delicate topics and children must be warned how dangerous it can be.
