My Last Trip to a Local Beach with Friends
Hello readers,
“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.” - This quote has always felt so relatable to me, as I think there is something magical about stepping out of your daily boring routine and experiencing new and unknown places. As someone like me who has always loved to tell stories or start gossip, especially when I am surrounded by friends, travel has become one of my favorite topics. From my experience, it is like opening a new chapter every time I pack my bags for a new trip, doesn't matter if it is a place nearby or a remote one. I really enjoy spending time with old friends back in my hometown and love talking about random topics, sharing personal stories or hearing their stories as well. But whenever the subject of travel comes up, I literally come alive and get excited, whether it is hearing about someone else’s journey or recalling one of my own.
Last July, I was lucky enough to go on a trip after a long time of getting bored with my daily routine. And guess what? It was to a nearby beach, with my wife and two close friends, along with their wives. We spent two incredible days there, and even though the trip was short, it was packed with memories that I will treasure in my chest for a long time.
After not traveling with my friends since my college days, this trip felt extra special to me and also, and it was also the first trip for me and my wife with friends. We had planned everything out - like we booked our hotel in advance, made a list of things we wanted to do and all of us were so excited and were eagerly waiting for the day to come. The waiting period was almost as fun as the trip itself and when it finally came, we could not wait a second to start our exciting journey.
The journey to the beach was about five hours by bus journey from where we live. My wife and I left early and met our friends at the hotel that evening, since they were coming from my hometown and we were going from the city. Since it was the weekend, the beach was pretty crowded with tourists. Luckily, we had booked our room ahead of time because finding a place to stay at the last minute would have been impossible. After settling in, we could not resist the urge to explore, so we headed straight for the beach, even though it was nearly midnight and as we expected, the beach was surprisingly empty. The only sound we could hear was of the waves crashing gently against the shore and the cool night breeze made it a perfect, peaceful moment that I would remember for the rest of my life.
The next day, our adventure really began. We started the morning by swimming and relaxing at the pool before heading out to explore the local beaches and other tourist spots and local attractions. It was one of those perfect days - sunny, warm and full of laughter. After clicking endless pictures and reels and enjoying seafood by the sea, we ended up spending the whole day outdoors, soaking up the sun and getting seriously tanned in the process!
By the time we returned to our hotel room that evening, we were really exhausted and energy-less. So, instead of going out again, we decided to order food from our hotel and grouped in one of our rooms and started gossiping together. The hotel’s restaurant didn’t disappoint with our orders and after having our dinner together, we ended the day sharing stories and then took sound sleep before starting another fresh day in there.
On our second and final day, we made sure to take a piece of the beach home with us. As thought, we started exploring the local shops, picking up souvenirs for ourselves, our family and our loved ones. After having a good lunch together, we knew it was time to say goodbye to our little beach trip. As we packed our bags and left, there was a bitter and sweet feeling hanging in the air. We didn’t want the trip to end and regretted if we had some more time, but we were grateful for the time we spent together.
Now, while talking about my last trip, I am already thinking about my next adventure! I always believe there is something about traveling that makes us feel alive, and this trip was a long needed medicine that reminded me just how important it is to take those moments when you can. So, until the next journey, I will be dreaming of new places to explore, new memories to make and new stories to tell.
