A Sunny But Cold Walk Along The Water
Last weekend the sun was finally shining, at least for a few hours. It's still cold though and I'm reluctant to take off my gloves and take pictures. But I went for this walk with the intention of posting it here and this also made me more mindful of my surroundings. I slowed down and paid more attention. I'm sharing these pictures in the order I took them, hopefully this will give you an idea of my walk 🙂
The city center of Stockholm is built upon islands, therefore it's quite easy to notice when you leave it. I live on one of these islands and sometimes I go for this particular walk just outside the city center. You cross a bridge (about 1 kilometer from where I live) and then you can just walk along the water as far as you like. As you might know, there's a lot of water in Stockholm.
A couple of hundred meters after the bridge, you come to a marina. There is also a popular restaurant but they serve mainly fish so it's not for me.
As you walk further, there are more cafes and restaurants (it was too cold to sit outside, hence no people 🙂).
In this area there is also a horse riding school. I always wonder if the horses are happy in places like this. I used to ride horses as a child but since I grew up in the countryside I didn't go to a formal riding school.
This is actually the same way I came (I turned around and walked the same way back). You can see the city center on the other side of the water.
Approaching the marina again.
It's easy to feel that your surroundings are repetitive, I guess no matter where you are. But it's always possible to discover something new if you stay present. I really enjoyed the sun and I'm looking forward to warmer weather. Yesterday it was snowing again though so I just have to be patient. After all, it's just the beginning of February and summer is still far away here in Sweden.
Thanks for reading 🌸
Love and blessings to you all 💚
Such a beautiful area for a walk thanks for sharing it with us
I to find it hard to balance keeping my hands warm and taking photos
I recently brought gloves where I can uncover my thumb and first finger to take photos and keep the rest of my hand warm and they help me to get more photos when it’s cold
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)
Thank you for your comment 🙂
I'm glad you enjoyed my walk, even if it's virtually 🙂 It's a nice initiative.
That's a good idea, to buy these kinds of 'special' gloves, thank you for sharing that.
Cheers
And do try those gloves if you can find them they have helped me so much
Those are some very beautiful photos. That blue is beautiful too! Never been to Stockholm before, and perhaps one day I can see it with my own eyes.
Anyway just wanted to share this song with you:
Thank you for stopping by and for sharing this song 🙂
To be honest, Stockholm isn't the most exciting city but I still find it beautiful.
That's some pretty pictures. It has been pretty warm here, lately. Close to 20 Degrees Celsius, at times
Spring really has started early, here, but it makes me smile to think that the inside of your apartment is warmer than the inside of my house ( except for, perhaps, the chair right next to the woodburner, at night ;^) )
Yes I have read so many posts about the warm weather in Southern Europe 🙂
Yes, luckily it's warm inside here. Otherwise I wouldn't cope well at all 🙂
That was a fun walk, I like what you said about the repetitiveness of certain places where you live, and trying to have a simple eye to observe & discover something new in the present moment.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
It was actually you who inspired me to have this perspective. You wrote something about how your surroundings felt a bit repetitive and I replied that I think it's very common to feel this way no matter where you live 🙂
Hahaha that's hilarious we are running in circle! Or going full circle is probably a better way to see it!
