Adícora: An Adventure in the Paraguaná Peninsula
Traveling is always an experience that enriches the soul, and this trip to the Paraguaná Peninsula in Venezuela was one of those moments that stay in the heart. This time I headed to the picturesque town of Adícora, a hidden paradise well known among kitesurfing and windsurfing lovers. I have visited this place before, as I have family there, but, even though I know its streets and corners, every visit to Adicora always has something special to offer.
The trip started with a mandatory stop at the Médanos de Coro, the famous dunes of Falcón state. These sand giants can reach up to 8 meters high, and it is impressive to see how the wind constantly shapes and moves them. I was told that, due to this movement of the dunes, they have had to move the road over the years to prevent it from disappearing under the sand. This spectacle of nature reminds you that here, the wind is the real king.
Continuing towards Adicora, I crossed the isthmus that connects the peninsula with the rest of the country. It was a stretch full of varied and beautiful landscapes, from beaches of unrelenting wind to salt flats and shrimp fishing areas. The heat, of course, is a faithful companion of this adventure: during the nights, temperatures reached 30ºC, and during the day they easily surpassed 35ºC. Fortunately, Adicora's refreshing breeze helps to make the weather a little more comfortable.
Adícora is a jewel in the middle of the desert: small, colorful, and full of friendly people. The first thing that catches your attention are its beaches, with shallow waters protected by reefs, ideal for swimming without worrying about strong waves. Among its attractions is the famous lighthouse, an iconic 17-meter structure that many visit to capture that perfect photo.
But, personally, there is nothing like the sunsets of Adicora. If I could bottle those colors, I would. Watching the sun go down over the sea and fill the sky with golden and reddish hues is a magical experience, and in Adícora, every day has its own palette of colors. Plus, the village, though small, is incredibly welcoming. I walked to the church and then along the boardwalk, which was newly remodeled, giving a modern and fresh touch to this very special corner.
Adicora's beaches are also an ideal place to relax, especially if you are traveling with your family. The water is calm, perfect for the little ones to play without worries. And after a good time on the beach, there's nothing like returning to the lodge and enjoying a dip in the pool as the sun goes down.
Another unmissable place in the area is the Cumaraguas Salt Flats, located about 30 kilometers from Adícora. There, the salt water from the sea evaporates under the sun, leaving the salt on the ground. When visiting in the afternoon, the salt flats are dyed an impressive reddish color that makes the entire landscape look like something out of another world. It is a natural spectacle not to be missed.
This trip to Adicora was a real disconnect from everyday life. Between the scenery, the warmth of the people and the tranquility of the environment, I felt like I was recharged with energy and peace. I can't wait to go back and continue discovering its secret corners. If you have the opportunity, be sure to visit this hidden paradise in the Paraguaná Peninsula.

I had the joy of visiting the wind paradise and it is a magical place, the contrast of the blue in the sea is so fascinating to anyone's sight.
That's right, one thing I take away from this trip is the color palette of this beautiful town, I have not seen anything like it. Thanks for visiting my blog.
It is a very emblematic place! I haven't had the opportunity to go there yet, but I hope to do it soon. You got some beautiful shots. Cheers!🌞🌵
